We can at least HOPE that the world's children have teachers who are patient enough to share -- and be allowed to share -- clear and fact-based historical knowledge.
Our redesign for https://topology.pi-base.org finally launched! If you might be teaching #topology someday, I'd love to chat about ways to use it in your #classroom. And we're always looking for students and faculty who want to contribute to its content...
In keeping with our back-to-school theme this week, here we have an 8th-grade classroom at St. Veronica's school with 40 students seated at tables or desks, each equipped with a Burroughs calculating machine as a math tool, 1955.
I've posted critically of iPads lately, but wanted to highlight a killer use case.
This year I set up our Apple TV in my wife's #classroom and she's using her iPad for almost EVERYTHING that is on screen. Goodnotes for rapid drawing (and as document cam by just snapping a pic), Powerpoint for presentations with real time annotation, and playing youtube with full sound output to the same system that amplifies her voice (I'm splitting out the audio to do this)

This is a beautiful video (mostly an ad, but that's ok) highlighting the possibilities in working with #digital tools in the #classroom. The adaptability and inclusiveness is unrivalled by tools like these!
@edutooters shout out to all the old-school educators who are freaking out about how ChatGPT wrecks their ability to detect plagiarism in written essays. Maybe it's time to change how you assess student learning?
@notroot@edutooters not exactly, but #Pedagogy has been evolving apace while many #Teachers were themselves educated in an outdated version of pedagogy (ie. they teach how they've been taught to teach).
Adapting those techniques to a new reality where learners are generally bathed in technology from a ridiculous young age, these #DigitalNatives come into the #Classroom knowing how to game the (particularly public) educational system as it is currently designed.
