For the day that's in it, this is my favourite rule in BATTLE of TAROT (2 player tarot card battle game). Aces without any court cards become some of the strongest armies in the game.
"In the spirit of anti-royalist sentiment, this army can be referred to as 'The People's Army'."
I do not have Pacific Islander ancestry myself, but I have been practicing the Samoan art of Siva Afi (fireknife dancing) for 12 years. I worked with world-champion fireknife dancers, Samoan speakers, and a Samoan artist to create a card game about it:
I've had a few people ask me about how I designed BATTLE of TAROT. So I figured I'd write up a little post about it. (a thread)
The Conception:
The idea to design BATTLE of TAROT was not intentional. It came to me in a dream.
As an artist, I was drawn to the tarot as I had seen a lot of my fellow artists illustrating their own decks. I was looking for a personal project to work on near the end of 2022 and so...
My wife @sabcatsilver, a psychology student, created a card game that helps therapists (and people) talk about grief, end of life care, and perspectives on life.
I am soooooo proud of her!! Currently it’s a prototype for class, but she may publish it in the future. Thanks to folks who helped on Mastodon! We got it printed on GameCrafter
