This month, Starling bank decided to lock out GrapheneOS users from using their app, giving a standard bullshit "jailbroken/rooted OEMs" reason - however, after a pushback, they actually realised they were wrong, reversed the decision and actually added the support https://github.com/PrivSec-dev/banking-apps-compat-report/issues/39#issuecomment-2099075929

A reminder that Lloyds Bank Group banks (Lloyds, Halifax, Bank of Scotland) still use that BS reason. Banks can be pushed back.

I see funny-men Nigel Farage and Piers Morgan were both on the BBC Question Time panel last night.

Wonder if I can watch it without @ine telling me off again for not waiting for her.

Now that the UK has announced a Genital Election, I'm really looking forward to all the political content coming our way.

This isn't even sarcasm. I love a UK election.

Oasis have dropped a hint that they may be getting back together after their split 15 years ago. The iconic Britpop band, fronted by battling brothers Noel and Liam Gallagher, posted a cryptic video on X, with no explanation. Some fans believe it means new live gigs or music. Others are convinced it's aerial footage of Sawmill Studio in Cornwall, where Oasis recorded their debut, "Definitely Maybe," and that the video teases a 30th anniversary reissue. Here's the NME with more details.

As we await clarification, here's a fun question: It's now 25 years since Blur's "Country House" and Oasis's "Roll With It" went head to head for the U.K. No. 1 spot. Most folk agree that the tunes themselves weren't the best examples of the bands' work, but a quarter-of-a-century on, which do you think is the iconic Britpop act?

It was an inauspicious start to the U.K. Conservative Party's election campaign as Prime Minister Rishi Sunak announced that Britain will head to the polls on July 4. Heavy rain fell as he spoke, and D:Ream's "Things Can Only Get Better," best remembered as the Labour Party's theme song for its 1997 election victory, blared from a member of the public's speakers at the gates of Downing Street. Deadline has this writeup on what it calls the "farcical scenes."
