Yadda yadda yadda.
Meanwhile, in the real world, the average wait to get a court date for a rape trial - for the 1.6% of cases that actually get that far - is FIVE YEARS.
The biggest problem that the way the Second World War has been presented to people in the UK throughout my lifetime is that it was primarily a fight against the Germans, and not because it was a fight against fascism.
And that is how we have ended up with the two major parties espousing fascist policies, and the people who think they are the biggest patriots (cos they wave a Union flag) are the ones who most adhere to the ideology we were fighting against.
While our politicians are prancing about on stage making performances some serious shit is going down with the NHS and the Nation's cybersecurity, not that anyone in charge seems to care.
I don't work in Infosec, but there are paragraphs in this article which will horrify them because of the mess the hack has revealed.
As a patient in the effected area, this is MY data that's flying around thanks to Russia 😡
Wait, now the Tories work out that you don't win elections by pandering to your own extreme wing? Reform are doing well not because anybody likes them but because the Tories have demonstrated themselves to be so fundamentally unserious about governing that those Tory voters who can't stand Labour have nowhere else to go.
“A claim that nearly half of private school pupils would leave the sector if a Labour government levied 20 per cent VAT on their fees is “too high” and “not statistically representative”, the consultants behind the study it was based on have said”
It was a weird #Leadersdebate. The leader of the opposition was campaigning on his record and the Prime Minister was telling us to forget the last fourteen years and focus on the future. #ukpolitics
I don't understand why the media decided that only two leaders would debate, deciding for us who we should hear from, who to vote for, and who's in the running to win.
Even accepting that's okay for them to do on our behalf, we're missing the other leaders' questions and points of view. We're voting for all their MPs to get into Parliament and debate for us there.
Feels like we're becoming the polarised, lie filled, fact void politics of the US.
So it’s almost official we are stuffed. Obviously living outside our means. Both the ruling parties have told us so.
But only those if means were constrained by selling of public assets overseas, leasing them back at a premium, running down public services to force their privatisation, siphoning monies off to cronies, and…
For gods sake, we allow Corporate interests to drive Labour and Conservative politicians (plus some others) to tell the children they preside over what our means are and what our priorities should be while hiding their own interests.
No feckin wonder they want to slash - that is their profit margins we are talking about.
