Wow. I did not have shutting down on my list of things to expect this week:

https://www.theregister.com/2024/06/07/sorbs_closed/

They’ve been around for almost half my life.

Bet the spammers are gonna be happy.

ATTN: Mail Admins!
The SORBS is shutting down immediately.
Smells like Proofpoint cutting costs.
Michelle Sullivan has said that she’ll be looking for a new gig after 6/30.
Sad, as SORBS was one of the best semi-automated DNSBLs out there for catching from places where it was coming right now. A bit harsh for absolute usage, but very useful as a strong thumb on the scale.

This is my #gmail inbox. I think Google's #spam detector has just given up. I'm not American, have never lived there, and surely can't vote there.

@hl @jake4480 time to email his optician and do some detective work 😅

Oh wow. I think we now have an AT&T that's nicer to sysadmins!

AT&T has long been one of the networks I've dreaded running afoul of when sending email newsletters. For years they've been opaque about their process for getting a false positive IP address de-listed from their block list. "Can neither confirm nor deny" is their MO in how they handle this. It has taken me over a month to get a false positive cleared before.

Most networks have a form you fill out, a list of things you have to fulfill to get automatically restored, and some automatically reinstate you with a delay if you even contact them.

I had some email delivery issues with Gmail and needed to make some DNS changes to make Gmail happy, which instantly landed me in AT&T hell. I was expecting a month of neglect. Instead, they replied back within a few days to let me know that my request will be carried out shortly.

Thank you AT&T!

The next cloud service I'm leaving will be most likely #linkedin.

Besides their horrible UX, it doesn't work in my Firefox any more. Can't send any messages. Can't close message dialoge popups. 🤷

Since it annoys with lots of #spam and did not provide me any benefit at all so far (not a single job opportunity for months! even when I enabled all job search features), it will be an easy good bye for me.

@publicvoit The culture on LinkedIn is pretty gross.

Soo... I have recived some notifications of support tickets from you, for an email address of mine that is not connected to a Bitwarden account.
Should I be worried?

@afranke Non c'est https://www.signal-spam.fr/ qui permet de signaler nationalement tout type de mail. Il existe une extension qui permet de signaler rapidement (du coup j'ai pas testé encore :) )

Wow! Just received the first from :bitwarden: @bitwarden in my mailbox. An uncalled for advert related to their "Bitwarden Secrets Manager".

Interesting! Very interesting!!! It seems being a paid customer to means being target of blind marketing schemes!

@bitwarden When exactly did I consented to be part of your marketing campaign?!

Mehrad,
@Mehrad@fosstodon.org avatar

@bitwarden
Please do clarify:

  1. Where in this text wall (there is no instance of "advert" nor "promotion" exists there)

  2. Where is the changelog? When was it added?

Do remember that transparency is the key factor in trust.

Just received a #spam call from an 0331 number.

https://who-called.co.uk/Number/03316307859

But, according to Ofcom's big spreadsheet - that's an unallocated block!
https://www.ofcom.org.uk/phones-telecoms-and-internet/information-for-industry/numbering/numbering-data

I really wish UK MNOs would take spam calls seriously. Although I suspect it's one of the few sources of voice revenue they get!
