As a migrant growing up in Dubai, she remembers witnessing a migrant worker–a maid–locked outside on a balcony for days by her employer. The impact of that memory, and what she came to learn of the inhumane plight of other migrant workers in the Gulf countries of the Middle East, stayed with Behbahani as her family later immigrated to Canada.
Her current #research concerns #AuralIdentity and #SonicSpaces for #QueerWomen and #lesbians in the #CanadianMedia context. The SSHRC Joseph-Armand Bombardier Canada Graduate Scholarship is the most recent award that recognizes Stacey’s achievements and the impact of her research.

“What really surprised them in #California was the sharp decoupling there is in Metro #Vancouver between incomes and #housing prices,” said Andy Yan, an associate professor of professional practice at #SFU who also heads its City Program.
As a friend of a long time #SFU TA, this is absolutely necessary. The #University has absolutely done some borderline illegal #strike breaking already and refuses to bargain with the #union -- this being their third strike in the last decade (I think).
