One thing that breaks my brain. You can watch the tutorials by @BlindiRL and think "oh like 45 quick tutorials, I can watch this under an hour." He then does a tutorial playthrough of 12 videos, "Oh, this looks easy."
Then you go to the wiki and see there are something like 10 main goals, topics, and industries. You can go through the whole wiki quite quickly.
I embark. Proceed to get rekt in 10 minutes. !!FUN!!
What I am doing currently is almost have like a cheating save. I started and made a backup save and then tried to get my farming and tavern running, and then I moved on to the next thing. When I mess things up, I go back to the previous save.
I've now made it to where most players start with clothing, but most of my animals died, and I basically don't have clothes.
I am a big fan of #Rimworld with 100s of hours and find that my learning experience is quite the same. I didn't have a proper playthrough in Rimworld before I played 100 hours.
I am now on 70 hours of #Dwarffortress. So I guess I am almost there!
Are there any good #Youtube creators with short - and medium-length content about #Dwarffortress?
I just love #Rimworld and probably have 500 hours in it, but only playing Dwarffortress since the #Steam release, I am really struggling to get into it, simply due to struggling with the mechanics
I think I just need to watch some good and entertaining gameplay where some things are just explained in more depth.
Today is going to be a hot day, so I'm definitely not going to leave the flat. Instead, I'll try to make this Sunday as productive as possible, as there are so many things to do. Trying to find the best chain of actions to optimise both my home and myself. 💪

I made the #Windows transition to #Linux and took the #Ububtu route. My experience has been positive, with the greatest drawback being game support on #Steam.
Otherwise, it feels less bloated. Everything I use is on my taskbaar, and I never open the start menu. If I need to, it is sleek and clean.
I also just like the look and various tools that we can download.
With the opecomibg #POPos update coming out, I am currently creating a live boot disk to see what it is like, and then I might make the switch from Ubuntu to Popos.

I'm interested in researching and developing BCIs (Brain-Computer Interfaces), specifically BCIs that function as vision prostheses that may help with conditions like RP, or the more common degenerative retinal disease AMD (Age-related Macular Degeneration).

For the life of me, I'll never understand the hate in the #Rimworld community toward people who like anime aesthetics. It's an aesthetic. It's as asinine as shitting on people for liking art deco architecture or the color red.
Some people can't draw the line between "I don't like this" and "I think you're a stupid person for liking this."
You can tell the landscape is seriously shifting at reddit because of the drastic change in user opinion just in the last week. Subreddits that were overwhelmingly in favor of the blackout last week have suddenly shifted to seem drastically against it. Is this a sign anyone actually changed their minds? No, it's just the opposite: most of us dissenters packed up our shit and left.
I'm disappointed in some of the specific game subs I've been a part of staying open in the name of "but the community and resources are all established here" (#Rimworld) or those who aren't even talking about it (#GenshinImpact, #TearsOfThemis). I'd really like to create some of these over here to get the ball rolling, but I know moderation is not a task to be underestimated; I KNOW I don't really have a suitable personality for it, plus I have my hands full with other projects.
It is definitely time to nuke this Windows install on my main rig. Probably something I'll start later tonight, but for now, I must go play more #RimWorld!

I’d say I’ve finally got past the initial start of a #NakedBrutality game, after dying pretty quickly on several attempts.
I’m now able to regularly feed my character, Sawyer, with food I’ve grown and defend my camp from basic attacks. Now trying to rescue Sawyer’s sister Holly who just crash landed and hopefully have her join the colony!

Adding a bit of variety this week! Going to be checking out RimWorld! Never played it before, although I may play a little bit off stream before Friday. 😅
Playing some Rimworld between meetings. It's a fun and surprisingly addictive little base-building/exploration game, and as a bonus it's small (less than 500MB) and runs flawlessly on Linux (Pop!_OS here).
However, the downside is my search history looks pretty dubious now. "How to harvest organs" "Slaughtering animals" "Making drugs" "How to burn corpses" etc. etc.
"Wounded" might be understating the case a bit
