Dr. Steve Campbell: “Your periodic reminder that less ice at the Arctic is consistent with a weaker jet stream that allows cold air to drift down into the Great Plains.
The frigid temps you’re experiencing happen BECAUSE of a warming planet, not in spite of it.”
Yes, we can still have extreme cold despite #GlobalWarming.
The latest science shows that while cold waves might be decreasing in number, disruptions in the #polarvortex caused by climate change could be making extreme cold periods even colder
Our deep cold stretch has officially broken- Monday was still cold in the morning, up to around -20 mid-afternoon, and into the low-mid teens by midnight, -6C or so by noon today, bit colder in the afternoon. Next couple of days highs near -20C, but that still feels better than highs of -30 and lower!

The car is plugged in and according to my phone it started charging at 7:00 a.m.. I need to run out there and crank the heater in hopes that some of that ice will melt. I'm going to need the car, eventually.
I think that I have it to a point where I could drive it if I needed to? I can't see through the side mirrors but I'm also not sure how to go about thawing those.
Glad that despite the #solar panels being covered in light snow and it is cloudy with light flurries, the panels are covering the load and I'm pulling zero off the grid. #TexasWeather#polarvortex
