This is crazy! I had no idea #PaulReubens (Pee-wee Herman) was the voice of Max, the robotic UFO commander in "Flight of the Navigator". Now I have to watch it again! That was a great movie!
Anyone else absolutely wrecked by the loss of Paul Reubens? Pee-wee's Playhouse was such a safe, liberating space for me as a kid, & I've always admired Paul's seemingly superhuman resiliency, his maniacal brand of kindness, his revolutionary sensibility for sassy nonsense. I'll miss the chaotic good he brought to this world so much. It's a crooked horizon, honestly, without the weirdo icon I've adored for almost 40 years. He was my favorite. Ice cream soup forever. 💙
#PaulReubens I did watch Peewee's Playhouse but I loved his bit part as Oswald's dad in Batman Returns the people that made #Gotham did too because they made him his dad in that show too it was so cool to see him play Penguin's dad before Oswald becomes the Penguin #RIPPaulReubens
Just crushed to lose Paul Reubens. I have a longer story to tell about how I got to know him a little bit, but for now, know he was lovely. He never forgot my birthday, and he sent me a Christmas card every year after we met.
That's me in the picture with Paul and my co-manager at Archie McPhee, Shana.
#PaulReubens, best known for his #PeeWeeHerman character, has died at 70 after a six-year battle with cancer. Reubens brought Pee-Wee to television first in a 1981 #HBO special, "The Pee-Wee Herman Show" (which was revived on Broadway in 2011), and parlayed that into the cult classic Saturday morning series #PeeWeesPlayhouse (1986) and its Christmas special, and the classic film #PeeWeesBigAdventure (1985), followed by #BigTopPeeWee (1988). 1/4
RIP, Paul Reubens. He has been privately battling cancer for years, and last night it claimed him.
Pee-Wee Herman has been a great source of joy for me for most of my life. His first movie remains near to top of my all-time favorites list. I will miss his presence in this human experience.
