I had not considered that one could blame #Trump (but now also #Biden) for escalating tensions in #Israel#Palestine. The efforts to work out better government relationships between a much more right-wing Israel and other countries in the region did not consider the interests of the Palestinians. For those who support #Palestine but don't understand anyone having complex feelings about the situation in #Ukraine, start your clock in 2014 not 2022. Consider the situation of Russian speakers in the Donbas who refused to go along with the undemocratic change of government. What happened post Soviet break-up needs to be understood just like what happened around the founding of #Israel needs to be understood. Without that, the Russian invasion and #October7th both look fully unprovoked.

If we're comparing the deaths per capita on #October7th to #September11th, should we also multiply the deaths in #Gaza by 3 or 4 since #Israel has that many more people? When do you start and stop the clock?
Why isn't everyone demanding a long-term UN peacekeeping mission to the region to solve this issue with as much fairness as possible? The alternative is that Gaza and the West Bank just eventually become fully part of Israel, right? And many die along the way.
