I now, the fabulous self titled Joe Cocker from 1969, original Monarch pressing. The man just had a way with phrasing, and made those covers his own. Something is a good example of that.
Currently spinning: Beach House - Teen Dream (released in 2010). Local pick up today! After the self titled gets repressed this autumn I will have their entire discography on vinyl! Can't get enough of them. #nowspinning#nowplaying#vinyl@vinylrecords@vinyl
#NowSpinning Bobbi Humphrey - Satin Doll. This #vinyl record came (sealed) as an “also included” item in an eBay purchase. Knew nothing about it. I have since learned it is FANTASTIC. Sounds like a movie soundtrack from a very particular era of 70s cop films. Think flute jams, muscle cars, and a morally lenient plainclothes detective putting that magnetic siren on the roof of his sedan before the big chase scene.
Currently spinning: Royel Otis - Sofa Kings. Picked this one up in the mail today, imported from Australia to the US, signed. Love this album entirely, glad this indie pop duo managed to get it pressed! #nowspinning#nowplaying#vinyl@vinylrecords@vinyl
Currently spinning: Beach House - Bloom. Record store pick up! I also ordered in Teen Dream. When the self titled repress drops this September, I'll have at least all of their studio albums. #nowspinning#nowplaying#vinyl@vinylrecords@vinyl
Stumbled on a copy of this yesterday and am giving it a first listen. Quieter than likely for an original pressing but it will benefit from a more thorough cleaning. More subdued than I was expecting but it’s setting a proper mood for a leisurely stat holiday morning…

Shrimp Boats (1978) is a comp of two Lionel Pillay bands. Side 1 is a single track with Basil Coetzee on one track (despite top billing, he's only on side 1). Side 2 is an electric group, with the great Sipho Gumede on bass and a front line of Barney Rachabane and Duku Makasi. There's a version of South African jazz classic Yakahal 'Inkomo and a rare cover of Weather Report's Birdland! #jazznoisehere#jazz#jazzvinyl#vinyl#vinylrecords#nowspinning@jazz#southafrica
