Hiked one of my favorite hills for winter ice yesterday and almost waited too long. Most of the hill is bare dirt and even the climbing walls normally covered in ice are starting to clear off. #hike#NewHampshire#ice
For my work, I play with US geography all day, everyday. I misspell New Hampshire as "New Hampshite" every single time and I can't even be mad about it because it always makes me laugh.
I hope that the good people of the "Live Free or Die" state can find it in their hearts to bear with me...
The New Hampshire House voted down a bill Thursday that would bar schools from carrying certain books that include sexual conduct, nudity, and other content – and require that they set up processes to help parents flag and request to remove them. #AureFreePress#News#press#headline#Newhampshire

September 8, 1983: It was mostly cloudy in Crawford Notch at 12:30 when I set out on the #AppalachianTrail. A nice, stiff breeze was blowing, the air was fresh and dry, and the day was much cooler than the last few had been. As usual, that 12:30 start was considerably later than I wanted it to be.
In case you missed the @uwcip rapid research blog post from last week with observations about election rumors around the New Hampshire primary: "Despite the relative 'quiet' of intra-party rumor during this primary, the engagement with these extra-party narratives, 10 months before the general election, signal a group of supporters eager — and perhaps impatient — to rerun the claims and tropes of the 2020 election."
I still can't understand why Asian-Americans vote Republican. Even if they are now US citizens or are born in the US, they will still be considered outsiders by many Americans, especially white ones. Plus, Republicans hate Asians and other people of color. Do these Asian-Americans think they're now white? It's like they want to suffer more. Puzzling.
"...regarding two bills that are currently pending and on which testimony will be heard on January 25th: HB1683-FN (Children’s Body Autonomy Act stopping Medicaid funding of circumcision) and HB1706-FN (Circumcision Transparency Act requiring that New Hampshire parents be fully informed before agreeing to having their son circumcised)."
Arnie Arnesen explains to Amy Goodman why "MAGA Polite" (Haley) lost so badly to MAGA (Trump) in New Hampshire. As he says, New Hampshire is a state Haley should have won easily"
"We are a highly educated, rich, white state that doesn’t go to church. OK? I mean, compared to Iowa, we are probably the second least church state in the country. And when you look at all those pieces, Amy, she should have won."
It seems odd that most media coverage of the #NewHampshire primary tiptoed around the fact the #GOP is now the full-on party of #insurrection and ending American #democracy. Isn't that important?
"Former President Donald Trump is projected to score a double-digit victory in New Hampshire's primary on Tuesday, marking a second and crucial step toward securing the 2024 Republican nomination."
President #Biden is on track to win more votes in #NewHampshire as a write-in candidate than Barack Obama did when he ran for re-election in 2012 — and Obama ran unopposed and was on the ballot then.
