@geerlingguy#Twitter, #Reddit, #Netflix, and now #RedHat. Rapid #enshittification is happening in numerous companies, many of them largely unrelated, all at once. Something's got the whole tech industry's higher-ups scared, desperate to make a lot of money quickly, regardless of the long-term consequences. I dread to think what that might be…
I quit twitter after Elon made some anti-trans tweet (and it wasn't his last). From everything I've seen, Twitter has only become more of a cesspool under that same leadership. But Tim Apple continued to invest something like $100 million (maybe 2-3x more?) in Twitter ads, and now the company is releasing full episodes of shows there? For a company that presents itself as inclusive, that certainly isn't reflected in the way they spend their money.
It is REALLY disappointing that #apple keeps supporting #twitter. On a very simplistic level - if you fund a company, then you agree with them. People will say it isn’t that simple, but guess what - it is that simple. I quit #netflix because I disagreed with how they treated their paying customers (me). I signed up with #AppleTVPlus and now I see them pushing streaming content to twitter. This bothers me - a Lot !
Ok, just like before with #You (#Netflix), I've reached my limit of watching a man filled with #erotomanic#obsession lie and manipulate to fulfill his own sick desire.
I gave #Chance a chance, but not even halfway through episode 6, "I'm out!", and not in that good way.
What about #HughLaurie makes him play such arrogant, narcissistic, thoroughly unlikeable characters? Is it his character?
"Nimona" on Netflix is a damn delight. Go watch it right now!
Props to Blue Sky Studios for starting this project and to Annapurna Pictures for finishing it along with DNEG Animation. And a huge middle finger to Disney for quashing it while it was under Blue Sky. I'm glad the creatives pushed to get it finished and found a new home for it. I just wish I could have seen it in a theatre; it's that good.
Chloë Grace Moretz and Riz Ahmed are great as the leads. The animations is beautiful. And the story is strong.
Okay so today is my first day on Mastodon. I’m looking to connect with people who share my interests. Here’s my list of things you’ll find me talking about once I understand how this works.
The #Witcher books have a ton of problems (briefly, the quality of the story decline rapidly when going through the books), and actually the games (all 3 of them) managed to create a much better story. But let's say that the screenwriters for the #Netflix series are not exactly proving to be able to do any better.

#Netflix is turning to exploiting South Korean writers and producers instead of negotiating with striking US writers. SK workers have poorer labor protections and earn less residuals, and that appears to be what Netflix is trying to profit from.
I'm watching #Stranger (2017) on #Netflix -- it's quite good, I recommend it if you like procedural thrillers -- and I have to shout out Yun Se-ah for doing a magnificent performance as an East Asian upper class Stepford princess trophy wife.
Online-Spiele soll man bald auch bei Youtube spielen können. Einen entsprechenden Dienst mit dem Namen "Playables" testet die Platfform laut WSJ gerade.
I’m still so furious at them taking #Discovery off #Netflix the sudden way they did, especially when there weren’t even PLANS to start Paramount+ in Japan at the time.
Oscar and Tony Award winner #AlanArkin has died at 89. He was also nominated for six Emmy Awards and most recently appeared on the #Netflix series #TheKominskyMethod.
And before the week gets too much further away from us, we have to acknowledge the passing of actor #JulianSands, who died in a hiking accident six months ago, and actor #NicolasCoster, known for his work on soap opera #SantaBarbara and more than 100 film and TV credits, died June 26 at 89. #RIP
"When Netflix launched in South Korea in 2016, workers and labor activists hoped that the global streamer, accustomed to stricter labor standards negotiated by Hollywood’s unions, would be an uplifting force in an industry notorious for abysmal working conditions...But the excitement of those early days has faded as the realities of the company’s business model have set in."
Just finished #TheLastofUs on #HBO. It has really high highs but overall, I think the narrative is hindered by its origins as a video game. While I've not played it, I've listened to the show's #podcast where they highlight what scenes are directly from the game and which are new. The show was best when they went beyond the game. It is frustrating because what works works SO DAMN well. Honestly, when it comes to recent Post-Apocalyptic shows, I think I liked Sweet Tooth on #Netflix a bit more.

Lucie Blackman was murdered in Japan 23 years ago. Now, a new Netflix documentary aims to re-tell the grisly story.
