Die SuS verwenden #Discord nicht nur beim Daddeln, sondern auch für Hausis und überhaupt für fast alle Absprachen, weil sie "nichts anderes kennen" (Zitat!). Discord ist aber nicht ohne Grund erst ab 16 erlaubt und eine #Datenhölle.
#Mumble ist die #Opensource-Alternative, die man auch selbst hosten kann. Mein Mumble-Server läuft seit gestern im Testbetrieb. Danach kann ich dann mal in der #Schule Werbung machen...
Bin gespannt, wie sich das entwickelt.
Es ist immer wieder traurig zu sehen, dass uns die guten zu früh verlassen. Vor allem, wenn es so sinnlos erscheint und durch eine Sache für dessen Verbesserung dieser Mensch viele Jahre kämpfte.
Ich kannte #Natenom sicherlich nicht am besten, dennoch kannte ich ihn viele Jahre, er war auf seine Art ein sehr eigener Mensch, aber ich werde mich dennoch an viele, Abende mit ihm auf seinen #Minecraft, #Mumble Server und diversen #MUCs zurückerinnern.

No judgment if you've already built a community there, but everyone really needs to treat it as a ticking time bomb. It's already failed its users many times over; it's just a question of when those failures will escalate beyond even the most indifferent user's tolerance. Every community deserves better. Good alternatives are a survival imperative.
This sucks so much. I kept telling numerous people " #discord is NOT a forum, it is an IRC app, stop building your communities in it around stuff that needs to be found with a search engine and archived, it's a bad idea for numerous reasons including the overpopulation of server topics in an app that has a 100 server limit" but nobody listened. I hate being right.
We're about to have yet ANOTHER internet library of alexandria situation assuming this shit retroactively applies to existing stuff.
The sheer fact that their ToS are inacceptable and that they actively ban better 3rd party clients as well as #loginwall all content makes it useless for any #FLOSS projects.

Has it always been this hard to get people into a voice chat? Even on discord lol. I feel like if there was some time when voice chat was popular I must have missed it.
I am SO sick of joining #Discord Servers for everything and anything.
I do NOT want to join your server of 400+ people I do not know and have no desire to talk to because you wouldn't link me your GitHub or site directly or put necessary information in your README for a thing I just want to download and use.
Please, for the love of Celestia STOP doing this. IF your server gets deleted, that information is GONE. If Discord shuts down, that information is GONE. If someone doesn't want to join a 400+ person chat room, they're SCREWED. PLEASE STOP.

If you want something you can #SelfHost, give #Zulip a chance.
