One the fledglings surprised me by taking food from my hand today. This one has also started catching its own food and seems to be getting quite good at it. Won't be long until it will have to go off and set up home somewhere, hopefully nearby.

My #Robin friends Hedgy and Hazel feeding their fledglings today (or in one case attempting to feed one of the chicks a bee, but it turned it down). The chicks left the nest 11 days ago, they can now fly quite well and are starting to find their own food, while still getting plenty from the parents. In

My friends Hedgy and Hazel feeding their 10-day old chicks. They've done very well - last year none of the Robin chicks of my tame Robins made it past day 9, largely due to the exceptionally dry weather - food was scarce for both the small birds and for their predators. Hope they can make it through the next few days, when they'll be ready to leave the nest!
