This JMusicFriday's theme is idols and the person organizing it said we can choose more than 1 and went for 3. I'll also go for three. I could go for more, but if I do, I'd just spam a bunch of Vtuber and BanG Dream songs :GuiltyChuckle:.
Hopefully BanG Dream counts just fine. It's more bands than idols though, I guess?
I could never bring myself to like GLAY though I know they're a much, much more popular band and I grew out of Laruku too. I'm just really into LUNA SEA's atmospheric vibe that they still retain despite fans complaining not liking their newer output. To them I always say, you're the one who have to grow up to appreciate their new songs!
Now that Sakurajima Social, our sister instance is now up, here is an #introduction post.
My name is James known as chikorita157. I run an anime blog, Chikorita157’s Anime Blog since 2009 and I cover primarily yuri, school girl slice of life shows or shows with mostly/all female cast. Manga Time Kirara titles are my favorite, especially Machikado Mazoku, Gochuumon, Comic Girls, New Game, Bocchi the Rock.
Also, I am learning Japanese since 2012 and aiming for JLPT N2.
Some of my favorite artists are: Minase Inori, TrySail, Uchida Maaya, Touyama Nao, Kitou Akari, and Ueda Reina.
My main account is at @chikorita157, where I do most of my posting there, but I will post here sometimes as well.

Why Calckey and not just another Mastodon Instance?
Well, you may ask. We went wtih a more inclusive domain name this time and since Calckey resembles Twitter, it might give the push for some Anime Bloggers to leave Twitter and join us at the Fediverse as it has arguably a better UI, Mastodon API support (in the works), and the ability to migrate accounts and bringing your content with you. This is different compared to Mastodon since you can only move your followers.
The goal with both my Mastodon and Calckey instance is give Anime Bloggers and Japanese-media based creators along with fans of Japanese media an inclusive and non-toxic place place to talk about Japanese media and share your Japanese-related content. With Twitter's future uncertain and #BlueSky not being the answer, the Fediverse might be the solution to a decentralized social network future.
If you want to create an alt or migrate here and you are on an instance already, send a direct message to @chikorita157 and you can get an invite code sent to you quicker than through a form.
People without a Fediverse account can request an account through our form
Finished the second cour of #eightysix the other day, because I was reminded on here that it had a second cour :blobfoxcrylaugh: (Split cours are still the worst.) The ending song "Alchemilla" introduced me to Regal Lily, who I'm liking a lot! I've been listening to them all day :mmikudance2:
This is a late post but hopefully people will remember them for their contributions to the Japanese electronic music scene. Thank you Akira Complex....
LUNA SEA will be holding their DUAL ARENA TOUR 2023 in Japan, where they will play MOTHER and STYLE for 2 nights in each city!
This is a throwback to TOUR 1995 MOTHER OF LOVE, MOTHER OF HATE TOUR and TOUR 1996 UN ENDING STYLE!
October 7-8: K-Arena Yokohama
November 4-5: Marine Messe Fukuoka
December 2-3: Xebio Arena Sendai
December 16-17: Nippon Gaishi Hall Nagoya
December 30-31: Osaka-jō Hall
So while I was on Calckey, I made this one post that I'm still curious to hear answers to. Since I didn't have my followers there, and I assume they haven't seen it unless they follow one of the hashtags I used, I only got one answer. As such, I'll be copy pasting that post here below:
What is everyone's favorite song from this current season of anime?
For me, while there are songs from Summer 2023 that I have to listen still, so far my favorite is definitely the ending to It's MyGO: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wuUZjdiUCj0
It's so good! Up there with my favorite Bandori songs!
I generally don't like covers but this one is so well executed, with an orchestra!
ofc I expect nothing less from Hazuki who is the #1 LUNA SEA fanboy. I also appreciate his choice to cover Forever & Ever bc it's not really a "popular" ballad in terms of LS lore, most people would default to I For You or Gravity.
JMusicFriday's theme is songs from 2023 and... I can't possibly go down to just 3. Almost an entire year's worth of songs, so I'll pick 6. Even that's hard!
Luckily, ThePop already chose Bae's Boom and Ado's Show, so that makes it a liiitle bit easier to narrow down.
Ironically there's a song I like so much and it contains a Rap part. That's Memory 青春の光 from モーニング娘。released in 1999. I got easily attracted at the very first time when heard it. Their produced is the same who created Airi Suzuki decades ago...
But that's so different anyway.
Enjoying this weekend spending the afternoon writing my future book, then play some Japanese records and end with a dose of Playstation games... maybe with Outlast.
For me, a record, a tape or a disc is the physical reference from the artist I like so much in my collection. That's not the same to have a digital file or streaming, unless it's a #MiniDisc Nice article
Akira Complex, international EDM prodigy, has passed away
