Anyway, there's a lot I love about this. I didn't end up a huge Prince fan (there's a story there, because I was, but then it got learnt outta me, boy), but I have never seen him shred like this.
And it's not virtuosic guitar playing either. It's just fucking great music. And he literally drops the mic and walks off the stage at the end.
I learned today that #GeorgeHarrison’s Got My Mind Set On You was a cover of a song from 1962 written by Rudy Clark.
Clark was a black songwriter from New York who wrote songs whilst working as a mailman. He also wrote The Shoop Shoop Song, which similarly charted both in the sixties and with #Cher’s cover roughly 25 years later.
Here’s the original version by James Ray, who Clark discovered singing in a small nightclub.
