Released version 0.8.0 of my Blit crate: https://crates.io/crates/blit

This crate allows you to easily render pixels into a buffer. In this release, I've reworked the whole API and added a ton of new features. My favorite feature is the showcase/tutorial example which can run on the web: https://tversteeg.nl/blit/showcase

The new API allows for drawing a subrectangle of a sprite(sheet), tiling a pattern, dynamically scaling using slices or any combination of the above!

This week's game is going to be a maze chase game. I don't want to make a pac-man clone, so the player won't be eating dots - instead collecting something, avoiding enemies to outlast a timer, defeating foes, or some other goal.

Since I have a week I want to scope small, so a fixed-screen game instead of something scrolling or with multiple rooms like Berzerk. (cont)

So the basic premise is that you're a ghost scaring kids out of your graveyard. The kids will try and pathfind through the maze while you try to intercept them and scare them away.

Later stages will up the difficulty with evil ghosts that you need to herd the kids away from.

A haunted house motif might work better but that's a more complex layout and I'm not sure I'll have time to create the tileset, so for now it'll be a graveyard.

If this turns out to be too simple I can add the twist of dwindling spectral energy and ghost powerups to collect to keep moving, but that's the general idea.

Today I'm going to try and figure out the core mechanics - largely pathfinding, I haven't tried the new navigation system in godot 4 yet. Tuesday-Wednesday will be level design and pixel art assets, friday-saturday will be polish, testing, and release.
