World’s biggest economies pumping billions into fossil fuels in poor nations (www.theguardian.com)

G20 countries spent $142bn in three years to expand operations despite a G7 pledge to stop doing so, study finds. The world’s biggest economies have continued to finance the expansion of fossil fuels in poor countries to the tune of billions of dollars, despite their commitments on the climate....

Gaza: Gas rich, but in ruins

As the world watches Israel’s military onslaught on the Gaza Strip, there is one development that has received close to zero attention: Israel’s granting of 12 new licences for gas exploration.

Palestinians say much of it falls within their maritime borders, under international law.

Did a gas/electric fixed tarrif with #OctopusEnergy in February but I read an article today from #MoneySavingExpert which says check your tarrif as the price cap may not go as low as predicted.

So I checked mine and the March fixed tariff for existing customers is now £70 per year cheaper (based on my consumption) than the February fixed. No exit fees so got it swapped over!

This is the article I read this morning:
https://www.moneysavingexpert.com/utilities/are-there-any-cheap-fixed-energy-deals-currently-worth-it/

Hope that helps someone!

A mere 57 oil, gas, coal and cement producers are directly linked to 80% of the world’s greenhouse gas emissions since the 2016 Paris climate agreement, a study by Carbon Majors Database has shown.
In the database of 122 of the world’s biggest historical climate polluters, the researchers found that 65% of state entities and 55% of private-sector companies had scaled up production.

"Now, newly discovered documents reveal that the American Gas Association was studying the health and indoor pollution risks from gas stoves as far back as the early 1970s — that much more, at a far earlier date, than has been previously documented."

Less known is the fact that the #gas utility industry has been engaged in the same kind of deceit. The industry has been gaslighting us by promoting the idea that “#CookingWithGas” is a good thing, despite knowing as far back as 1970 that gas stoves pose a threat to public health and the environment."
