Today in Labor History Nov 2, 1917: The Balfour Declaration proclaimed British support for the creation of a national home for the Jewish people in Palestine. The declaration supposedly said "that nothing shall be done which may prejudice the civil and religious rights of existing non-Jewish communities."

Three cables under the Red Sea that provide global internet and telecommunications have been cut as the waterway remains a target of Yemen’s Houthi rebels.
Washington says the cables were deliberately cut by the rebels to disrupt the global internet, but maritime experts believe it was an accident.
These cuts affect 25% of the traffic flowing through the Red Sea. The route via the Red Sea is crucial for data traffic from Asia to Europe.
After 166 days of Israel’s retaliatory airstrikes and ground operations in Gaza, EU leaders called for a cease-fire, showcasing unanimity on the matter for the first time since October.
The 27 European Union countries have been divided on Israel’s war in Gaza and have failed to show a united front until now.

CNN spoke to three Israeli whistleblowers who worked at the Sde Teiman desert camp, which holds Palestinians detained during Israel’s invasion of Gaza.
All spoke out at risk of legal repercussions and reprisals from groups supportive of Israel’s hardline policies in Gaza.
“They stripped them down of anything that resembles human beings,” said one whistleblower, who worked as a medic at the facility’s field hospital.
Israeli military invaded the city of Jenin, causing widespread destruction and violence. They seized goods, wrecked a monument, and destroyed critical infrastructure.
Amidst the chaos, a teenager was shot and three men were killed by a drone strike.
Witnesses told AFP that the forces used bulldozers to destroy roads in Jenin and its refugee camp. In recent weeks, the Israeli occupation forces have escalated their raids.
