I just booted my server, after thinking the sparkies were going to need to power off the house.

I think I can hear it from upstairs.

Report after 2 months with a Kindle Scribe.

Probably only of interest if you read a lot on tablets, rather than other e-ink devices, and are curious about a big Kindle is like.

@d6y reading now, have you tried the remarkable?

jonoabroad,

@d6y you moved from static site generation?

jonoabroad,
@jonoabroad@mastodon.nz avatar

@d6y it's faster and nicer than the boox.

It's larger than a kindle, I like that I can sketch things, that said it doesn't help me draw any better.

I enjoy it, I need to get a workflow together to get content on and off it,as you describe in your post.

@d6y @paulsilver

this is what remarkable has also, it is about as useful as understanding my voice - the only things that understand me are apps I havent' asked to start :(

Doubtless Apple will spin the innovation of deleted photos randomly returning from the dead with today's date as being for your comfort and security, as usual. https://www.macrumors.com/2024/05/15/ios-17-5-bug-deleted-photos-reappear/

@motomatters oh god, It look until the interview for it to sink in that the aero and ride height devices were ways to work around the excess horsepower.

You don't need usable horsepower if you have rider aids to work around that excess power.

jonoabroad,
@jonoabroad@mastodon.nz avatar

@motomatters although, with electronics they were manipulating the power delivery - with aero / ride height they don't have to cut the power.

I feel as though I have just walked into a gun fight with a banana.

My son Daniel made a super tasty dinner for us… we were joined by a yoga buddy who loves Artemis.

During tonight’s walk, we ran into Loki and her humans… two lawyers. Frightening that my bar ID is 1/3 of their bar IDs… lots of lawyers minted after 1992.

Chillin in the spring weather and loving life.

Who decided that Hydrogen was β€œthe future of decarbonisation” and why was it rich pricks like Andrew Forrest?

jonoabroad,
@jonoabroad@mastodon.nz avatar

@franksting I'm open to Hydrogen, just no one has come up with a convincing use - well for vehicles.

It's meant to be good for steel production*

I mean, I guess we could use it for air travel - i mean it's not like there is a history of bad things happening there.

  • I am really badly paraphrasing who actually knows what he is talking about.
jonoabroad,
@jonoabroad@mastodon.nz avatar

@MattHatton @franksting

There are already trucks that can do 1000 km on a charge.

To have Hydrogen stations, you are going to needs electricity, at which point it is cheaper to have a charging station

jonoabroad,
@jonoabroad@mastodon.nz avatar

@MattHatton @franksting

oh yeah, I find most of the arguments against electrification to be strawman.

When you have 50 bazillion ton mining trucks being converted to EV, it seems like most other land based vehicles shouldn't be too much of a problem.

So, TL/DR: #Tesla is cutting 20% of its workforce to save money, but also spending money by paying #ElonMusk to advertize to Tesla shareholders on #Twitter to get them to vote to give #Musk $55B in stock.

Interesting: I just tried following someone on mastodon.ie with an unlocked account and it got turned into a follow request.

Has mastodon.ie silenced me?

If so, I’d like to know why.

CC @mastodonie

PS. This won’t affect you if you’re already following me. It will mean my posts would get hidden from the public timeline and wouldn’t show up in trending posts, etc., on your instance. Hence β€œsilenced.”

jonoabroad,
@jonoabroad@mastodon.nz avatar

@aral this was/is one of the things about social media that we don't have a good or really any solution to yet.

I had to stop myself on twitter from wanting to know why people had blocked me, I think I'm mostly harmless, if a bit sweary.

It would be nice if one could see why a block occurs or has occurred.

But then πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ

Security through obscurity is old school, we are now in the age of security through idiocy.
