I tried changing my e-mail from Gmail to something else, and Samsung kept telling me every e-mail I wanted to use was not allowed. For example, Duck dot Com provided by DuckDuckGo was not allowed.
Samsung was in the way of avoiding Google and so Samsung, had to go. I am not going to compromise. The goal is to delete, Google and Microsoft too.
Fun with AI: I was playing around with the new DuckDuckGo chat feature DuckAssist, and it kept confusing PATCO :patco:, the rail service in southern NJ, with PATCO, the air traffic controller union. They do share the same name so I can see where the confusion is.
Also #DuckDuckGo: We're violating somebody's privacy in our search results, you say? Let us deflect that responsibility to Microsoft as we actually just use their search engine.
I'm afraid if I want a real #SearchEngine, I may have to have to pay for it with #Kagi.
I'm still a little fuzzy about what "Eid Mubarak" means, but I think it means essentially "Happy Holidays" to those who are participating in the feast at the end of the month of Ramadan. So, if that's you, Eid Mubarak!
Love this: "When we send a request to a partner for information used in search results, the transfer of information is proxied through our servers so it stays anonymous." #duckduckgo
Interesting ... #DuckDuckGo are dabbling in "private" AI chat. They have Claude 1.2 Instant from Anthropic and GPT-3.5 Turbo from OpenAI. I wonder how that will go?
"All of your chats here are private, and are never stored by DuckDuckGo or used to train AI models."
"Never stored by DuckDuckGo" I assume means they will be stored by Anthropic and OpenAI 🧐
Well #DuckDuckGo drank the cool aid. Can we just not plug hallucinating AI into every single thing? I've been meaning to get #SearXNG going on my infra. I guess it's time now.
DuckDuckGo being #DuckDuckGo yet again caused a "private" AI to appear. Based on OpenAI, they claim "not to train on your conversations"... but OpenAI will happily take the convos instead.
The "privacy" saying in your authorship is boring, Weinberg. Stick to something new instead.

The "privacy" saying in your authorship is boring, Weinberg, stick to something new. Not strange people can't withstand talking about online privacy because of some Bing frontend breaching it on a (now likely) daily basis.
#DuckDuckGo is already pretty useless without boolean search options, and it also ignores dates. So if you're trying to search for something from 2014, you can't. Nor can you exclude all the stupid amazon or pinterest posts, etc. It's useless junk. And now it's useless junk with a heaping pike of garbage on top.
@Vivaldi I usually don't look too much at the suggestions, I either know where I want to go, or I do a #duckduckgo search (or I use one of my custom search engines, like @alternativeto (aliased as "alt ") )
I sort of knew modern society was in deep finish trouble when every third reference I heard from young people was to a Harry Potter, X-Men, or Lord of the Rings movie.
Indeed. The vulgarity has become much more pervasive. I was astounded when I visited my nieces kindergarten school about 9 or 10 years ago to see the entire garderobe hallway hung with Frozen backpacks for the girls and Spiderman backbacks for boys. Very few exceptions, and those maybe of people who couldn't afford these brands.
Btw, typing "frozen" just now in #DuckDuckGo gives zero indication it might have anything to do with water going below zero degrees Celsius. Sad!
DuckDuckAssitant is back!
