I need to include a BCN-VGO leg in my flight to #DjangoCon EU, and the right flight in terms of timing is by #Vueling.

Should I be scared off by the terrible reviews on TripAdvisor, or is it worth taking a chance?

Gonna be working on my #djangocon talk proposals this afternoon. I’ve got at least one idea I’m working on, but if there’s something you’d like to see me pitch lmk!

🥇 Delighted to announce that Foxley Talent are confirmed as GOLD SPONSORS of DjangoCon Europe 2024.

This is our 3rd time attending DjangoCon Europe, we will also be supporting the conference with a Django.Social event amongst other things.

🇪🇦 This year's conference is to be held in Spain for the first time in the city of Vigo from 5th-9th June and we can't wait to make our way there.

See you there! We can’t wait.

Websites could be much lighter, much faster, much more fun to use, if they weren't bloated with loads of unnessecary #JavaScript.

Global traffic distribution could be much less, resulting in much less #CO2-emissions.

Q: Who would you like to see giving a keynote @djangoconeurope?

I just watched @pythonbynight's talk on the current state of in and now I'm turn between trying out django-render-block, forge-htmx, and @carlton's django-template-partials.

https://github.com/clokep/django-render-block
https://github.com/forgepackages/forge-htmx
https://github.com/carltongibson/django-template-partials/

Anyone written a blog post or made a repository attempting to write the same HTMX-powered view(s) using all 3 of those packages? I'd love to compare and contrast them more directly.

Here's the talk:

I just watched @_chrismay's talk, which also discusses HTMX but is (mostly) much higher-level and focused heavily on improving user experience.

Great visual story-telling Chris! 👏

The 1st ever #DjangoCon #Africa held in #Tanzania 🇹🇿 last month faced funding issues and subsequently organizing and logistical problems because the #PythonSoftwareFoundation delayed in deciding to approve the organizers’ grant request.

https://pythonafrica.blogspot.com/2023/12/an-open-letter-to-python-software_5.html

https://pyfound.blogspot.com/2023/10/september-october-board-votes.html

The Grants Working Group could not decide so it was escalated to the PSF Board, who also couldn’t approve in September due to safety concerns (LGBT+ is criminalized in Tanzania).

A year ago, during DjangoCon US 2022, I proposed the idea of organizing the "Django active developers Sprints" 🌅
Since then, I've talked about it with some community members and I updated the article. ✨
I'll share it again 👇

Well done to the social managers of DjangoCon Africa for the total coverage of the conference here on the Fediverse. 👏

Sharing images and information live during a conference is a demanding job and I know it well. 😅

For those like me who were unable to participate in this first DjangoCon Africa in person, it is wonderful to be able to follow everything that happens in Zanzibar. 🌍

Have a good conference. 🤗

The stress of knowing that anything I do in projects I maintain could cause angry messages has led to burnout multiple times. Don't ever suggest that I'm not thinking about or aware of the effects of my decisions. It weighs incredibly heavily on me.

@davidism it was a pleasure to meet you at last year's #djangocon sprints. It is completely beyond comprehension how you manage--for years now--to juggle a full-time job and all your open source work.

I've finally published version 2 of https://github.com/bckohan/django-render-static. This library is a Django app that transpiles the urls.reverse() function to javascript as well as Python Enums and defines. It also formalizes the concept of a pre-collectstatic rendering step for any static files that need to be generated at package or deployment time. Thanks to the sprint @ #djangocon !!

🧱 I got back from #djangocon late Friday night, and I'm on day two of my daughter (almost two years old) has created a new way of playing with DUPLO blocks (bigger LEGOs).

🏗️ She hands me a block and then points to where it should go. If it's off by even one block, she shakes her head and tells me, "No," and we place it.

I don't know how many hours we have had over the last two days, but this is reserved only for me. ❤️

Also, a reminder: FEELING THE POST-CONFERENCE BLUES IS A TOTALLY NORMAL EXPERIENCE.

Identifying and taking self-care actions can make a difference in how well you recover/thrive after the conference.

@kojoidrissa wrote an affirming and helpful post on this a couple years ago. I encourage everyone to read it and remember that being human is weird, and complex, and confusing, and sometimes beautiful. It was beautiful hanging out with all of you ❤️
