Y'all, duno if you sing. But today with my vocal coach we went over the vocals I recorded FOR THE FIRST TIME. And although I know it's not unique to me but when I say it was like a special level of hell to listen to that. 😭 😆

But yes i'll keep at it because being uncomfortable means growth blah blah. 😅 I still hate it though. 🫤

A couple friends are having difficulties with visa applications to go to @djangoconeurope I've tried to reach out on slack, one has tried to email with no response.

Is there anyone out there that can be available and wouldn't mind answering some questions? I have no experience with this so I'm not sure what to advise them.

For context they have to go through BLS international. If that means anything to you, you might be able to help :)

@carlton @djangoconeurope @cheukting_ho 👋 I think they are really struggling with any open appointments before the conf through BLS, which they have to go through.

If there are any tips or tricks. One from India and one from Egypt. Both having similar difficulties.

And for anyone who might need to know, the recommended path is to call BSL and try to explain the urgency. Or try to show up as a walk-in and hope someone else didn't show up for their appointment.

Sipping coffee and watching some of these #DjangoGirls highlight reels from ALL over the 🌐 on youtube from the past 10 years, and realized there is no way a survey or a talk could capture how much impact this community has had and how many folks it's touched.

It's incredible. Excuse me while I have some Friday Feels. 🧡

I was telling my wife, in Korean, about my Spanish class...and I got two sentences in until I realized I had switched to Spanish without realizing. She doesn't know Spanish. 😅 It's funny, we had a good laugh but frustrating as hell.

Brains are weird. 🤪

Does this happen to you? Any tips on context switching and maintaining that switch?

@bmispelon I had been doing pretty good with it recently, but I was particularly tired today so maybe that's it! 😴

And yea, she does pick up some parts of Spanish and tries to learn nuggets here and there --- so you are right, it's not a total loss! 💡

I appreciate your response, also knowing it's not just me 😊

Today I brought my cat in because I thought she had allergies... Turns out she most likely has cancer. This came after my father popped positive for a blood test for heart failure. This has to be my least favorite weekend ever.

I met someone who is doing for the local running community what Django does in tech: Inclusivity, welcoming to beginners, leading with positivity and kindness. We geeked out over our community organizing passions in very different spaces.

A close friend, and new mom, recently told me "My baby would not exist if you hadn't introduced me to Django"

Success looks different for everyone. In this case, Django -> transitioned to dev -> financial stability to have children, when before she hadn't thought it was financially possible.

We had our final @djangonaut session 1 call today. 😭

I am filled with pride and gratitude. So proud of our Djangonauts for all they've accomplished and how they've each grown in their own way. And for trusting us to create a safe space where they feel comfortable challenging themselves, and at times being vulnerable.

I'm so grateful to be surrounded by amazing supporters and all the folks who made space for me in this community, because now I can, and I am, doing the same for others.

It's amazing that they've merged lots of PRs. 🎉

But it's also when they tell me they've gained confidence at work or in their tech writing, or that they feel comfortable reaching out to ask questions or to connect with folks. I hope you feel that too. ❤️

It's the Django community...it's not only growing but flourishing.
