Working on March's square in the Makealong blanket. Colour is part of the Seascape series hand-dyed by https://fiberlily.com.au/product/make-along-club/.
Found I need to concentrate on this one...🤪
Hi, this is Kevin. Kevin is a very happy gecko. Did you know that geckos not only protect you from creepy crawlies, they also ward off ghosts, door to door salesmen and toxic in-laws?
Being on an island without a yarn shop definitely hampers the design process. I'm waiting now on different (better) colors I've ordered. But I knit this one as an experiment.
You never know how it will look knit up until you do it!
I've wanted to go to #Japan forever, but from insufficient budget to divorce to a pandemic there was always something getting in the way. Well it seems I'm finally going to #Osaka mid May to mid June and I'm doing lots of research now. Additionally to nature #photography I'm also moving into photographing arts and #crafts, things made by hand. If anyone happens to be in the area and has recommendations regarding Osaka, #art, and photo ops, would love to hear any advice, tips, recommendations! :)
Picked up a barely used Janome SUV1108 sewing machine off craigslist for $100. Giving it a good test run this afternoon with all the stitches, settings and accessories. Having fun with my daughter. She’s set now for doing some cool projects! She cranked out an awesome pair of red dungarees and a nice sunflower print apron last weekend using our vintage 1950’s Singer, but only straight stitch on that machine. Now she has zigzag stitch! Very happy. #sewing#thread#arts#crafts
Exciting day! Trying to feel less sick by force of will, so I'm doing some quilt layouts. Hoping if I have a less messy room (by virtue of finishing these projects), I'll feel better. lol. (Believe it or not, this has worked for me in the past. I at least feel like I got something done, eh?)
Here's the underside of a quilt top I've been working on for 2+ years, actually. #quilt#crafts#MadeByMe
So I recently celebrated a 2 year goldworkaversary (yes, I went there. Don’t look at me)
This is all the stuff I made in that time! I started small with an ‘S’ and ended up with an animated briefcase. I started in traditional embroidery so it was probably easier to pick up, but it’s been a really fun 2 years of crazy projects✨
I went to a viking renactment event at the weekend, here are some pics.
The dress I am wearing was made by my mum and is authentic. It was a three day thing and we slept over in the village, it was super cold and horrible to sleep in 😅. It was pretty cool tho.
I mostly spent my time wood carving and making a broom. The cat is a stray and is well loved by the park and has her own house there.
Here was a Belgian Secret Stitch sketchbook I made for my spouse. I wanted to try making another one of these books because they were so much fun. I also experimented in using less sketch paper in each signature (bundle of paper) and it worked much better. I did the same on the smaller sketch book in the next post.
Here are two long-stitch books with different patterns. The first (the black one) is a long-stitch sketch book and the other is a criss-cross pattern. Both look awesome! The red threads on the second one at the top and bottom were actually to cover up the fact that I made the book too long for the paper and only realized after making the holes
This one is a variation of a Coptic Stitch and, though it looks really easy, it is deceptively difficult to make because you need to learn just how much tension to give the thread. It is one that I will be trying to do again when I get some new thread.
Finally, when I was making two of the books, I realized that I did not have paper big enough for the inside panel. Then I remembered that I had these old calendars from Paper Source. I had used some for covers but realized that they would be perfect for the insides!
Finally, I just wanted to thank you for reading this thread - I've enjoyed learning bookbinding and have enjoyed sharing my projects here on Mastodon with you. I've really appreciated all the encouragement!
Here are a few more projects I've done over the past few months:
My mom has this 25 x 25 in (64 x 64 in) floral cross-design #quilt available. It comes with a narrow fabric sleeve sewn into the back of it so that a dowel rod can be slipped through and it can be hung up on the wall. Message me if interested in this one! If you buy it, you also get a free 14.5 x 14.5 in (37 x 37 cm) pillowcase cover that she made as a free gift, a pic of it is in the comments section below. Message me if you're interested in this fine deal! #quilts#artforsale#artlover#crafts
Bead by bead, every emotion gets released, every thought about aesthetics and expression is composed into handmade pieces, then hopefully, sent to people who would celebrate their unique beauty with those pieces. ❤️
