"During the 2015 election, the Liberals promised to end a Canada Post program, which was then underway, converting addresses from door-to-door home delivery to community mailboxes." A bad — but politically popular — decision of the Trudeau ministry.
For more radical change, @acoyne proposed many years ago that we give #CanadaPost to the postal union and let them find solutions.
So, this was released today. My third stamp with Canada Post. Qarlinngua (The pants). And technically my second stamp with a family member in it, as the tiny figure in it is my son Travis. Now for one with Hilary in it.
I’ve very proud of all of these, beyond the cache. They are about my home, and family. And also my family has a long history with the Post Office, 101 years. My grandfather, father, and brother were all postmasters in Roblin. #Nunavut#Arctic#Stamps#philately#CanadaPost
#CanadaPost is refusing to collect #firearms that were #banned by the federal government in 2020, complicating Ottawa's plans for a #BuybackProgram to remove 144,000 firearms from private hands, federal sources say.
The Crown corporation informed the government of its position in a recent letter. It said its decision was based on concerns about its employees' security, according to federal sources who were not authorized to discuss the matter publicly.
Price of a domestic stamp in a booklet, coil or pane would rise to 99 cents
Canada Post is proposing to increase postage rates in 2024. For stamps purchased in a booklet, coil or pane, which represent the majority of stamp sales, the rate would increase by seven cents, to 99 cents per stamp.
The new rates would take effect May 6, 2024.
Permanent stamps will always be accepted at the current domestic postage price.
The proposed rate changes would also affect other products, including U.S., international letter-post and domestic Registered Mail items. The price of a single stamp for a domestic letter (30 grams or less) would increase from $1.07 to $1.15. When purchased in a booklet, coil or pane, the price would increase from 92 cents to 99 cents per stamp.
FedEx appears to have boned me on my @frameworkcomputer 16 delivery; it was getting closer until they took it from Winnipeg to Memphis (wat), and now it's marked "Delayed" and nothing is updating.
This was after CanadaPost boned me on my RAM/storage delivery by not actually attempting to deliver it (and the carried lied about that). At least I was able to pick it up?
I really wanted to put it together this weekend. Sigh.
The 5.7-hectare parcel of land, located between Almon & Young Streets is currently home to a one-level sorting and mail distribution facility. It has been identified by the city as being "strategically positioned for significant density."
The news about the Ford government moving ServiceOntario locations to kiosks at Staples and Walmart is indistinguishable from parody. If it weren't so on the nose it would be literally unbelievable. The whole plan falls squarely into the category of "too ridiculous to take seriously and too serious to be ridiculous".
So earlier this evening, my partner got a notification that a #package had been delivered to our #CanadaPost#community#mailbox -- i.e. in a separate delivery from the usual mail during the day.
I went out to check, and indeed they had left the #key for package compartment "2B" in our box.
With the key snapped off right at the base of the big plastic "gas station bathroom key attached to a cinderblock" fob...
@cazabon Ugh. I ordered some Purdy’s for mom and was watching for it all day Monday. #CanadaPost said delivery attempted and jammed the fragile package in the freezing cold communitybox sideways overnight, didn’t find it to next day. My work desk is literally four steps from the front door. They’ve done that before- delivery attempted. Nope, sorry, Ceno and I both work at home alllll day…… #Lies
My favourite Christmas tradition is sending Christmas cards. Though we receive fewer after moving to Canada, my husband and I enjoy writing and sending them just as much as finding one in the mailbox. The first four are ready to go… #ChristmasCards#Christmas#SnailMail#CanadaPost#FountainPen
Etsy is fantastic. Except for the part where they're #incompetent, user-hostile, and provide absolutely zero #support for sellers (and not much more for buyers).
They just told a #customer of mine to expect their purchase in 5 business days.
Canada #Post's "delivery standard" for the method selected is 11 business days. And they're not even honouring those standards 'cause of the "emergency".
So I'm going to have a pissed-off customer, who bought expecting his #parcel to arrive by a certain special #date, which if I were able to ask Canada Post if it could be there by that date, they would laugh until they fell down, had a #stroke, and went into a #coma.
And there is no way to contact Etsy to tell them to stop doing this. Or do anything else, for that matter.
A while back a Canadian designer asked me if I could provide photos of sea otter and red-necked grebe for a stamp project for Canada Post. Unfortunately his design did not make the final cut but the stamps have since been released so I am no longer bound by secrecy.
The result of the collaboration between designer Meredith MacKinlay and Temagami Anishinaabe artist Caroline Brown is stunning! Check it out: https://store.canadapost.ca/store-boutique/en/414249111/p/animal-mothers-and-babies-permanenttm-domestic-rate-stamps-booklet-of-6
The Privacy Commissioner of Canada finds that Canada Post violated the Privacy Act after collecting data from its postal operations, they used it to create marketing mailing lists & then selling that data to third parties without consent.
The Commissioner's report shows that Canada Post collected data on people's names, postal addresses & what kind of online shopping they do.
