Hey peeps, care to rec me some #danmei?

I'm doing the book bingo challenge and as it seems I'm doing way better this year than the last, I decided to do the bingo again--but this time as a danmei edition!

So far on my list I have the following books/series:

  • MDZS
  • SVSSS
  • TGCF
  • stars of chaos
  • 2ha
  • silent reading
  • mr. melancholy wants to live a peaceful life

(I also have the new fan translation of Guardian but I'm not sure I can read it.)

I mean, I think that list has enough volumes to fill the bingo card but just in case I end up using the whole novel as one bingo slot... GIMME MORE!

My 10yo says she likes manga now. She's read Animal Crossing, Delicious in Dungeon, and Chi's Sweet Home. I don't really know much about manga. What would be some age-appropriate content for her? She tends to like fantasy and having a strong female protagonist, and stuff that's a bit goofy.

I currently the 4th and final book of Devin Madson's The Reborn Empire series. I've been postponing this as I don't want it to end. I love the characters, the world, the dark/gritty vibes and, of course, Madson's writing :blobcataww:

If you know of similar books/series, send me your recs?

This morning I took a moment to read The Book Itch: Freedom, Truth & Harlem's Greatest Bookstore by Vaunda Micheaux Nelson, R. Gregory Christie (Illustrator).

What a powerful little book with beautiful pictures throughout. Told through the eyes of Lewis Michaux, Jr. about his father, the owner of the bookstore we see famous people come to the bookstore, we witness Malcom X's assassination, and of course a lot of books. Highly recommend for ages 3-10.

Warrior Princesses: How Lakota Twins Fight Oppression and Heal through Connectedness by Sarah Eagle Heart and Emma Eagle Heart-White

I loved getting the Lakota wisdom that was within the pages of this book. Part self-help, part memoir and altogether great book. It provides journal prompts at the end of each chapter that the reader can do. Some chapters are hard to read, but offer a glimpse into life on a reservation and within society as a Lakota woman.

#MiddleGrade #BookRec this morning.

The Witch Boy trilogy by Molly Knox Ostertag is a fun graphic novel series about a boy witch in a family where only girls can be witches. It follows the MC as he navigates friendships, family dynamics, mysteries, and witchcraft. The three books are: The Witch Boy, The Hidden Witch, and The Midwinter Witch. Perfect for ages 8-13 or any fan of graphic novels.

I just posted a review of "Sunshine Nails" by Mai Nguyen on bookwyrm. It's a deceptive easy summer read with challenging characters and ideas. Taking place in Toronto, I'd recommend this book to anyone looking for some light reading that doesn't necessarily let you off the hook in terms of challenging one's view of the world: https://bookwyrm.social/book/937675/s/sunshine-nails @bookstodon #bookstodon #bookreview #reading #bookrec #canadianlit

I would love some #BookRecs, specifically ones available/enjoyable as #Audiobooks!

I finished Once Upon a Tome and I loved that it was:

  • mostly low stakes scenarios
  • informative on a factual but niche subject
  • fantasy/fiction flavorings
  • clever-humorous

I would love recommendations with some or all of these aspects!

Life is stressful and daunting, I’d like to be transported and maybe laugh or learn a touch on the way. Thank you so much in advance. :ablobcatheart: #BookRec #Audiobook

Writing a review—a single line or two—helps an author’s book stay shiny in the Amazon constellation.

You don’t have to write lots. Just something like "This story was great/awesome/somewhat entertaining. The author writes well/uses many adjectives/should use commas" is awesome and will help your fellow readers out, too.
