Tried to find government loopholes for some financial relief for health/medical essentials & prescriptions that my Dad needs on a daily basis - to no avail. I've made a bunch of posts on behalf of blorbo.social, and I often say "we want..." or "we're planning to..."
It occurs to me that some people might wonder if I'm using the royal "we"! 👑 (I'm not.)
There are about a dozen people behind the scenes helping to define how blorbo.social should work, set guidelines for the community, and do all the techy stuff.
I just happen to be the noisy one who posts about it a lot over here in the Fediverse.
We've set up a 5-person mod team, and can add more if there's a need. (Right now, 5 people is overkill, but it doesn't hurt!)
Being a moderator can draw unwanted attention and grudgewank from fuckwits. So we're leaving it up to each moderator to decide if they want to announce their mod team involvement.

Seriously though, fedi was built by furries, trans and queer folk, disabled neurodivergent people.
This is the reason the culture here is what it is. Why CWs are a thing. Why image descriptions are a thing. Why privacy matters here. Why moderation tools not only exist, but are usable — and used.
If you had joined and asked yourself "wow, how come this place is so chill and kinda… nice?" — that's thanks to all the nice people from communities some people call "weird".
I posted this and the parent toot at the start of Nov'22 wave of new people and communities joining fedi, bringing their specific needs and expectations.
Fedi learned a lot about itself since then, including that it needs to dramatically improve on the #antiracism front.
We need to recognize that fedi failed#Black / #BIPOC folks, and do better.
One more and I promise I'm done: if you like #STDS9#DeepSpace9#Babylon5 or #DoctorWho (esp classic) and #writing A good friend is still looking for #writers for upcoming volumes of #OutsideIn from ATB Publishing. Not a paying gig (it's for charity) but lots of fun. One author per episode of an entire series, a lot of leeway on how you want to present it, esp looking for #women, #lgbtqia and #bipoc voices.
