Found a solid through line for #character in a script an #acting #coaching client is performing soon. It's not the only basis the character could behave from, but it's fun and can be a solid jumping off point moment to moment. Gratifying to see their character developing into a whole "person."

Found while working on a pivotal scene with an #acting #coaching client cool discoveries about what the #scene has happening inside of it, in its turns and reveals. As my client wisely said, even if the final performance ends up different these are good pieces to find. I'm excited to see their #performance grow and deepen.

Coaching an #acting #coaching client today on a role they're playing soon, and the overarching interpretation of the character's arc will infuse the character with different stuff depending how production wants to go (the director's vision and such). It was good exploring many options and seeing what is more fun and interesting already, even this early in the prep.

The Hollywood Reporter's Roundtable events bring together leading figures in entertainment for frank conversations. This time, it's the turn of comedy actresses and the lineup is stellar: Quinta Brunson, Kristen Wiig, Michelle Buteau, Renée Elise Goldsberry, Ego Nwodim and Maya Rudolph. They met at The Georgian Hotel in Santa Monica to talk about the strangest feedback they've received, the roles that transformed their careers, and what happens when someone — in this case, Netflix — finally believes in you. "Oh, I’ve been tap-dancing for the patriarchy for a good while," says Buteau. "My knees are tired, but fish oil helps."

I was going to make a comment about #OpenAI and #voiceactors but I realized that some of my assumptions were wrong.

What I'm worried about is that a lot people don't necessarily recognize the difference. Traditionally, a full buyout for a voice actor is reasonable, because it covers a single recording.

But open AI is literally buying the person's voice.

The money damn well better be a fuck ton more.

Worked with an client on two things just now. 1: playing with status in a scene and how that transforms the deliveries and relationships, 2: using the words as toys to explore what you're doing and finding unusual or at least not obvious/casual rhythms, pronunciations and emphasis. So cool finding new stuff we didn't know was there.
