I am experimenting with a new #stitching technique for our new prototype GLoA E-reader case covers. I have fallen in love with the results. Still can’t believe this is #3dprinted plastics! #lasercut leather and hand stitched. Needs some minor adjustments but progress is good.
@kim is going to see her nieces tomorrow so I busted out the 3D printer so she could be the best bad influence possible :neofox_wink_blep: :neofox_peek_knife: #3DPrinting#sword
Overnight print is off to a solid start. I haven't done one this big in a while and I'm excited to see how goes the gradient filament. Also, the estimates for how long this print will take are crazy. Maybe it will still be running at 18:00 tomorrow?? That's not what Cura said. But we shall see!
The best and worst thing about 3D printing Star Wars LEGO figures is that once you start... you can't stop. This BB droid model was released for free last week by "BigBricks" on @Thangs3D. Printed live on https://twitch.tv/MakerDeck (of course)! Extremely easy to make. Banana [minifigure] for scale.
Biiiiig Rima.
My #DnD character, Rima Sahr, is a rune knight fighter. Rune Knights studied the magic of giants and have the ability to grow a size larger in combat. If you then case enlarge/reduce on them, they double in size again.
I have a 3D printer.
Built a gameboy camera printer for someone, I'm kinda jelly because it's better then the one I built myself. Used a vape battery a esp8266 together with a Tp4056 charge board. When connected to a gameboy you can tell the camera to print to the esp8266, when reset it turns into a WiFi hot-spot so you can download the photos to your phone. This is the firmware that I flashed to the esp8266 #esp8266#gameboy#3dprinting#gameboyCamerahttps://github.com/HerrZatacke/wifi-gbp-emulator/blob/master/beginner_setup_guide.md
After just not getting productive with freecad and solvespace (although I learned a lot from both) and beingt too frustrated with Fusion's free tier and really bad app streaming experience I might have finally found something I start feeling productive and quick designing models for 3d printing. And it's #Plasticityhttps://www.plasticity.xyz. Yes it's commercial but no subscription. Did some small mount adapters I needed as first projects today and they turned out really good. #3dprinting
Getting my life back in order post-move. May need to get a small table for the kitchen for the 3d print curing, but I can pretty easily fit the printer itself into the hobby room, along with a corsi-rosenthal box.
I never got my 3D printer set up to do really pretty, flawless prints - but I do seem to have reached a point where it will run & print just fine when I hit it up, even if it's been sitting dormant for weeks 🤞😁
Printed a Noted Core with wood impregnated filament.‡ This is a very boring beige, but I wondered if maybe it was one of those things where "boring" actually kinda worked.
Asked wifey her thoughts & - to summarize - #3DPrinting looks best when it embraces its nature. I love the translucent colors with little sparklies, or really nice color transitions, or just simple vibrant color. This just looks... meh.
Designed and #3dprinting some aquarium hose couplers because I refuse to pay €20 for a little chunk of plastic. There is no way this can go wrong right? Right? 😂
I was somewhat skeptical of multi-color prints on the Bambu Lab printers using the AMS but now that I've started to design things I'm trying to be efficient and I've got it down to a single color change after the first layer and there is no tower of wasted filament.
For these prints it's just a single layer of text on the bottom but I'm pleased with the very minimal print time it adds and almost zero waste.
Minor Update re the #Accessibility tool I've been working on for a friend for whom Apple's palm rejection absolutely refuses to work.
We've prototyped the cover + hole shape over the trackpad & it got a 👍. Now I've gone back and added 4mm thick leather wrist wrests & there's an internal cable run for charging the trackpad.
the lighter colored "wood" in the picture is a magnetically attached plate that we can swap out if he / anyone else needs a different hole shape.
I have the pao'er! Yet another 3D printed @Playactiontoys Star Wars action figure toy model was released last week. My weekends have been jammed lately, but I was able to complete Rogue One's Pao in good time - thanks, again, to https://twitch.tv/MakerDeck for helping make making a community thing.
Still have a few kinks to work out, but this little truck is really coming along. It's been fun to figure out how to break it into components that will print/assemble well. #3dprinting
