I am absolutely thrilled with this haul! I had a black #GameCube when they were current, but was always envious of those with the indigo version. Got a high quality RGB SCART cable on its way too. Can’t wait to try it out!
@MURRRAAAAY Am I the only one who hates these "mini consoles" where they take the equivalent of a Raspberry Pi, cram it into a too tiny case, throw in a crappy controller, and charge 2x as much as buying an actual RPi + good controller? It particularly bugs me because one RPi could do all the things that each of these "mini consoles" individually do without all the limitations they have like games they couldn't license (or didn't think to.)
@NO_PULSE_XBL@MURRRAAAAY That's part of my problem. It's actually not even a legal way to get many that it should be. Well, just for example, one great NES game I grew up with was "Faxanadu." Loved it to death. See it on the NES console? Switch NES Online? No. And you never will. No one remembers it existed.
The #GameCube has been such a fun console to explore. I didn't have it when it was current, but now it has pride of place in the #RetroGaming nook... Also, let's face it, it's the ultimate system for classic #ResidentEvil.

It feels like Fujiwara Friday came early! I'd like to thank @ojou for being kind enough to ship all this Chika merch and this beautiful Orange GameCube!! They really went out of their way to do that for me, and I'm super grateful.
And it just so happens, the new Chika plush arrived on the same day!! I can't believe I'm up 3 Chikas in one day!
Grabbed a quick hour to check out MGS: Twin Snakes on #GameCube after my impulse purchase the other day. Feels like MGS ported into MGS2 (which I guess is what it is 😅). Fun to see a slightly fresh take on a game that I know so well... And struggle a little too as it plays juuuust slightly differently. #RetroGaming#ShareYourGames
@Hundstrasse I got this at launch in 2004, still one of my favorite #gamecube games! I'd like a PS5 UHD remaster with an option to switch to the the original PS1 OST, probably ain't gonna happen though. It's stuck on Gamecube.

Feels like a missed opportunity with the recent re-releases. They could totally have included twin snakes (I say confidently without any real appreciation of how difficult that would be)
Today's #VGMWednesday theme is Let's Take a Breather, all about safe rooms or non combat areas.
I love the original Luigi's Mansion, which used it's main theme in many arrangements of different instruments depending on the mood of the scene.
The theme that plays in E. Gadd's Lab between chapters is a nice synthy arrangement
A few weekends back, I picked up a copy of Viewtiful Joe for the #Gamecube (https://mastodon.social/@GamesMissed/111241886323034384). I made sure it worked once I was home, but I hadn't actually sat down to play it until yesterday evening. I wanted to try out something.
I'd read that it was possible, with some jiggery-pokery, to run Gamecube games on a #WiiU, even if the system won't accept the discs. Like a #3DS and Game Boy Advance games, the functionality is there, it's just not enabled by default.
To stop rambling and get to a point, the software you want in order to install Gamecube games as playable titles on a Wii U is UWUVCI AIO (https://github.com/stuff-by-3-random-dudes/UWUVCI-AIO-WPF). It's Windows-only, although supposedly a Linux version is in the future.

Chapter 2 (Ellia 1150 AD) finished in #EternalDarkness. It’s slow going as some of the puzzles are a bit obtuse and my sword broke so I’ve had to use a blow dart, which is nowhere near as good!
Considering it’s over 20 years old, the game is holding up in the main. Still enjoyable — perhaps I’ll finally finish it?
