GTA2 and then GTA3. The open world of GTA2 seemed so big, and you could do all kind of random crazy stuff. GTA3 then was the same thing but in 3D!

Also another favourite was Prehistorik Man for the SNES. Was just a neat platformer that wasn't just the "default" Super Mario.

I'm changing my stance on the whole Meta/project92 thing after reading this article. I think the entire* fediverse should block project92 by default. I still don't see how things will exactly go bad for the existing instances by communicating with Meta instances.
The arguments in this article are "They won't moderate" and "Meta is evil". One is speculative, and one is biased... not convincing arguments to a neutral judge.

The drawback I see is that Meta communities will just be bigger and suck people out of the "nice" fediverse. But not federating with Meta won't change anything about it. If anything it causes harm because existing communities can't profit from the new Meta users joining.

Exactly. Why would facebook even care about the existing, tiny, fediverse? They are probably doing this because the infrastructure maybe makes sense somehow for geographic reasons to save on server costs.

Also a nicer design doesn't mean that it will be cluttered. You're just creating a strawman there.

Normal users don't want to spend time to customize! The site should just provide a few reasonable, good-looking options by default...

People aren't like "oh this looks bad, I'm gonna make it look nice", they are more like "Oh this looks bad, so it must be a bad site, I'd better leave".

I see potential in a site that offers an alternative algorithm, or curated list of channels, but still links to youtube for the streaming itself. The content that Youtube shows me has gotten quite bad lately... and the search doesn't even work properly.

Boost should be removed entirely since it's nonsense to boost most things. E.g. even if I liked your comment here, why would I want to "retweet" that (and retweet into what even)? I just want to tell you that I liked it... with an upvote.
