@odr_k4tana @matthew_d_green I think there has been a lot of discussion of how memory requirements factor into the computational effort of breaking different schemes. If you for example have an attack that requires 2n bit operations and 2m bytes of memory how do you compare this to the security level I definition (as hard as breaking AES 128 which would be something on the order of 2128 operations) is it realistic to assume radom access to a 2m B memory can be regarded as constant time?

Cistercian Numbers; are an extremely interesting and basically forgotten number system developed 8 Centuries Ago. It is much more compact than Arabic and Roman systems, you can basically write any integer from 1 to 9999 with one character.

you know the @pluralistic episode of XKCD? do you remember what it's about or just that it has a Cory Doctorow joke in it?

because you should read it. it was fucking prescient.

zeri,
@zeri@chaos.social avatar

@beka_valentine @pluralistic If doctorow is all they remember in the distant future that's some great news ... means the collapse wont be total and they have a set of Stories about capitalist failure modes. I mean having some of Banks Culture Novels might be useful too as lore for the machine gods :)

Bayern geht auf "Mission Kernfusion"

Bayern soll weiter Pionier bei neuen Energien sein, meint die Staatsregierung des Landes. Sie hat dazu nun einen Plan vorgelegt.

    American prisons are modern day gulags

    zeri,
    @zeri@chaos.social avatar

    @Radical_EgoCom so the thing is I have two Data points here
    (Screenshots from Wikipedia attached) I think both Statements are correct in fact world population hast grown significantly since Stalins death. Sry but checking extraordinary Claims is compulsory for me. So your meme is subtle desinformation(the "just kidding" part). By population there were probably 2x as many people in gulags as there are in the American prison system today.

    Sounds like they are asking tech and white collar workers to unionize.

    zeri,
    @zeri@chaos.social avatar

    @rberger thing is, companies that have a large remote workforce enjoy some notable advantages and it's not just attracting a lot of capable workers in all time zones it's trivial stuff like rent/maintainance of office space for every city you want to hire from. I mean unions are good and by all means unionize but I have a suspicion that the labor market is going to regulate this adequately within a couple of years.

    Ich habe eben den zweiten handwerklichen Druck von @GuidoKuehn montiert und gerahmt. Passepartout fand ich nicht passend, also habe ich eine umlaufende Schattenfuge gebaut, um es präsenter zu machen.

    Was meint ihr? Bin offen für Kritik und alternative Ideen, denn ich habe noch zwei weitere Drucke zum Rahmen hier...

    Gerahmter Druck hinter Glas. Das Papier "schwebt" im Rahmen 3mm über dem Hintergrund. Der umlaufende Schatten verleiht dem Text "PHYSIK VERHANDELT NICHT." Präsenz und Tiefe.

    @byteborg @GuidoKuehn you can usually negotiate most spicy situations with a generous application of energy ... so yea physics are as corrupt as everybody else

    zeri,
    @zeri@chaos.social avatar

    @scy @dictvm i still think the most paradox part of the whole afair is that this totally not a land grab smo aiming to undermine NATO imperial eastwards expansion has somehow led to annexation of large parts of Ukraine. I don't understand how one can condemn imperial USA and not condemn imperial Russia leveling entire cities with artillery for crying out loud.
