Being casually sexist in an anecdote about alleged sexism, ok.

With a knife (or other manual weapon) you have to be trained, lucky or prepared to kill even a single person, with a gun any person can shoot a whole school. It’s too much power for some people. Plus you add range to weapons, making it even more deadly and unpredictable (collateral damage, crossfire, etc).

If you set those cons against the pros of “it’s fun to sometimes target practice” then it’s clear the better option is to ban them, like most countries do. Most people aren’t against the actual mechanical contraption known as guns, they’re against the fear a shooting can happen to them, their loved ones, or other innocents.

And in terms of protecting yourself from people who do have guns: guess what, in countries where guns are banned 99% of the bad guys also don’t have them.

Seriously, I image a digger can dig one of those halve moons every few seconds or so if it is equiped with a custom shovel. And maybe sprinkle in some fertilizer to kickstart the growth.

Probably until I get sick or die of old age.

I’ll probably do things like ransack my local library for book like the SAS handbook, plant identification, etc to bring with me, hijack a truck that’s already ready to go, load all useful stuff including a small backup car/motorbike and head for the sub-tropics somewhere to a forest next to a city.

Not really fallen for, but at some point you don’t really have a choice. So in Bali near the waterfalls you sometimes have these people who claim to work for some official company asking for the entrance fee, but of course they don’t. But are you gonna just say no and keep on driving to save like 2,50 bucks when 2 burly guys are telling you to stop?

At least he’s not putting the blame on the others.

It’s fine if you want to go somewhere modest, just don’t make other people dress modest because you want to go there.

Value wise it’s not very good: you could have made the sauces yourself, slice your own cheese, cut your own broccoli, make your own muffins if you really want to save, make your own mac and cheese, etc. Would save you probably 50%.

That’s the whole point of the poster, how can people not understand that?

Also, this is not cringe. It provides a much needed counterview from the increasing amount of religious hate groups in the US, which is something tha US desperately needs if they don’t want to end up like Afghanistan.

Boiling your own beets takes so fucking long, I had no idea. 4 hours on the stove for a simple beet. No thanks, I’ll just buy them in a jar.

[RMA] What is this lump on my friend's CPU? (lemmy.ml)

EDIT: We decided not to pursue further diagnosis, because we wouldn’t know what the hell we’re doing anyway, and decided to start the RMA process instead. It might not even be the reason why the PC won’t turn on, but I’m not comfortable with putting that CPU back into his PC again. Once we get a replacement, we’ll see...

Just add flux, hold it upside-down and heat it up. Easy peasy. Can’t ruin it further anyway.

Sorry to tell you, but all your Lemmy information is already in all kinds of data broker databases. Data on Lemmy isn’t private, like, at all. It’s the whole philosophy of the federated ecosystem.

adding that the new regulation would have no impact on tourism

Uhu, uhu sure. So either he’s lying, or tourists will be allowed to buy weed while locals cannot.

I think they’re seriously shooting themselves in the foot here. As the only (?) country in Asia where it is legal they could have a huge tourism boom. Maybe not really the type of tourists they want, but after covid decimating the sector they need all the help they can.

The computers in star trek have no real intelligence, everything needs user input. I mean, their weapons don’t even auto aim.

There’s this hilarious ‘hack’ where you can make it draw penises by using the typos that exist in the training data.

Enterprise equipment still has this stuff all the time.

Want to double the speed? The hardware can do it, but software says no.

I mean, most Americans here had Trump as their leader.

No one said it’s private. It’s not commercial, there’s a difference.

Ah but who do you think pays for the protests and meetings and such? In the Netherlands they had build a stage at a demonstration which was literally sponsored by a big agro company. Its all just a way to get their foot more into politics.

Pink salt is just contaminated pure salt. In a normal world that would be considered trash quality.

You’re better off going to Colorado or something for your weed. Probably cheaper and actually legal (and thus less shady people running the place). And the shrooms are also nerved (only truffels allowed, not caps) ever since tourists misused them. Those are the only real ‘legal’ (not actually legal) drugs.

Can you imagine being in the cavalry, wearing a nice helmet your relatively rich parents bought you and then you see someone come in wearing this fucking thing…

Thousands in a country where the wage is like 50 bucks per month is a lot.

If it was a charismatic leader I could kinda understand, but Trump…? Really? You can hardly understand a thing he says.

Lemmy and the fediverse is the opposite of privacy. Everything you do (as in: post, comment, like, follow, subscribe, block) is being recorded and shared with everyone. There is no need to sell data, because it is already public domain.

In this way Lemmy is waaay worse for the users privacy than Reddit.
