New #Destiny2 board just dropped. Seems a bit… inflexible. Too many lanes. 😄 https://toywiz.com/destiny-chess-set/

sudaksis,

@InfiniteHench Ah yes, Chesstiny is finally upon us

I installed the #SkullAndBones beta. What in the 2013 is this?! 🤨

#Gaming #Ubisoft

sudaksis,

@EighthLayer Yeah, I played the beta last year and it completely turned me off the entire premise of the game too. Unless it was structurally rebuilt, I don't see it taking off at all

sudaksis, to random

Ok, technically I beat Sundered but there's clearly a second path to go on so I'm doing a second run for it lol

sudaksis, to random

I think it's finally time

Gonna try Cyberpunk 2077

I've never kept up with a lot of current world events, but the one happening with Palestine and Israel has really opened my eyes to a long-standing oppression by a colonizing state. In today's People Make Games video, Tamoor Hussain breaks down a lot of atrocities committed by Israel that need to addressed by the rest of the world. There's also a fundraiser to aid Palestinian people if you can chip in support.

sudaksis,

They also point out how Western media only depicts the Middle East as an area of constant fighting, and uses language that excuses and sides with the Israel state while turning a blind eye to injustices it commits. News media does affect other media, including our videogames, which is why we rarely if ever see any games or films exploring the realities they face from the perspective of a Palestinian civilian.

One game I have actually been playing lately is Super Mario Wonder. It's such a breath of fresh air for 2D Mario games with the added challenges from the wonder seeds and badge system. Some of the badge challenges are super difficult and the new special stages are the hardest I've seen them in any Mario game so far (I never finished 3D World)

The new style is a joy to look at and I love how wacky everything gets. A true successor to SMB2, which is a great thing. Elephant power is cool too :3

Been playing a bit of Dorfromantik lately and it's just like I've heard. Very relaxing and well paced problem solving with little challenges to incentivize doing more to unlock new pieces and biomes

It works great on Steam Deck too, so I'm thoroughly enjoying it :3

It's finally here! :D

Oh boy. Finally a Curious Archive video on a bunch of the coolest mind bending, reality breaking games from over the past few years and a lot of real world influences for them. Exactly my kind of stuff

Probably a macabre subject, but I always thought the death rattles in Red Orchestra 2 were really well done, both in tone of subject matter and in the voice performances

sudaksis,

@glassbottommeg non-macabre death rattles... perhaps they are failure shouts? knockout yelps?

But, yes, those can be very fun too! I think that's probably why the Messiah "oof" became so iconic when co-opted (stolen) by Roblox lol

sudaksis,

@LadyMarth01 Ah, I was not the only one who didn't find Rising Storm quite as enjoyable then. Never played Rising Storm 2 but I did like the first one as well

And it's always so good when bolt action rifles are done right. The M1 Garand in Call of Duty: WWII is absolutely a joy

After BG3, I really need a few small (1-4 hour) indie games before I get into Starfield. I like most genres, but I'm not that into crafting, framing, or busy work. Any new or old gems you'd recommend?
#indiegaming

sudaksis,

@ward The Spirit and the Mouse was a fun little game that fits that time frame

Also, Dicey Dungeons is really fun as there are multiple campaigns to play and each run is short. The mobile version plays exactly the same too, which is great for an addict like I was for it lol

Probably the main reason why I've always bounced off of their games is how stiff and lifeless all of the conversations are. Every dialogue has an NPC staring directly into your soul, which is so unnatural and really gets at my eye contact aversion. The last time I really gave them a shot was Skyrim on Xbox 360 and only lasted a couple hours. All of their other games I have experienced second hand through watching gameplay and they all feel like puppets.

sudaksis,

@WanderingInDigitalWorlds For real, though I do think they learned a lesson after all of the Fallout 76 issues as they delayed (unofficially; technically, they never had a hard release date last year) Starfield a year, and I'm pretty sure it was for polishing and bug testing because they really can't afford to release another broken mess at launch. Sure, it isn't bug free but it's a massive improvement this time. The underlying Bethesda systems just haven't evolved in decades

I finished #DeathsDoor this weekend and loved it. There’s something about the he difficulty and profession that was just right for me.

sudaksis,

@mrpablington They really learned a lot between Titan Souls and Death's Door, and the pacing and difficulty are very well refined. I like that they also give the player more opportunity for challenge with the option to not use the sword, which is great for a second run or experienced players on the first time :D

sudaksis,

@mrpablington I don't remember if you played TUNIC or not, but it's a great one to play after Death's Door as you'll have a good starting point in combat difficulty :blobfoxhappy:

I'm just gonna put it out there: 2023 may just be the best year for gaming

The more I think about it, the less sense the PlayStation Portal makes to me. It's essentially just a Wii U gamepad with less functionality

sudaksis,

By less functionality, I mean the Portal will not have a touchscreen, so no unique gameplay or interface functionality.

It will require Internet access with a minimum 5MBps speed, which means it will compete with your other devices if you have limited WiFi bandwidth or many devices. No idea if that means local wireless that does not reach the WAN would work.

It can only do wired audio or proprietary wireless audio with two official PS headphones.

It's also $200...

sudaksis,

It also cannot play streamed games from the PS+ service.

So in every way, it is worse than a PS Vita that was its own device that could also do remote play with the PS4. It is worse than the Wii U gamepad in that it does not add features but removes them.

The only positives I see is are the purported decent battery, equivalent to the standard DualSense controller, and that it can be used independently from the TV that the PS5 is connected to, similar to the Wii U gamepad only display mode.

sudaksis, to vinyl

Was up late pouring last night pouring over organizing my #vinyl collection and just wanted to share the crown jewel of my treasures here. I'll never part with this one and am still so impressed with the quality of the box set. Maybe y'all would want to see more?

#SuperGiant

sudaksis,

But this naturally leads into my adoration of Jim Guthrie and where I first came to know of his music. That was the soundtrack for Superbrothers: Sword & Sworcery EP, which was more of a game based around his music than the other way around (as said by the devs themselves; read "Who Needs What" by Andrew Hood for the full story). The music which most drastically influenced my taste and helped me break away from popular music that I grew up with to find what really fits me as an individual.

sudaksis,

And another classic I have on is that of Risk of Rain. Even now, I still prefer the game over its sequel, even if the soundtrack of the sequel is just more of everything that made the first one so amazing. Regardless, they had multiple reissues of the music because it was so popular, including a variant with the engineer on the cover. I got both like years apart and they're equally excellent.

sudaksis,

But yes, the Risk of Rain 2 soundtrack is absolutely incredible and the expansion DLC soundtrack is just as great. Besides Jim Guthrie, Chris Christodoulou's game music is what I probably have the most on #vinyl lol
