TIL that there's been a trend towards "4x4" in Drum'n'Bass music lately. Which, uh, kinda defeats the purpose of DnB?

I dunno about you, but this just sounds to me like Happy Hardcore with a softer kick.

I mean, I'm not complaining, artists can make whatever they want, but it's funny to me that this song is on the channel "UKF Drum & Bass".

I'd be interested to see if anyone has made a website that examines political promises and tallies them up with the outcomes (if any).

For example; in a manifesto a party promises to increase nurses' pay by 15%, but when in government fight the union and only end up giving them 3%.

I've been thinking about why working class people vote Tory, despite them never, never making good on their promises, and would like to see the data on what they do actually provide.

You've led me to a train of thought only tangentially related to your points, but I'll post them here anyway...

The Tories have spent most, if not all of the last 13 years convincing people to vote against an imagined reality rather than for what can be seen.

The argument seems suggest the world is getting worse for everyone, and we've made it less worse than they would have. Even though the counterfactual hasn't happened.

I've had a real sinking feeling this past week or so as our government (UK) decides that climate action is the wedge issue they want to prise at for the election.
It's not just that they are making bad decisions. By campaigning in such a way, the damage from their normalised arguments will take a decade to undo.

The economy! It's infuriating isn't it. The heuristic of a growing economy being of benefit to the people (on average), has been completely inverted.
Now people and the planet are mere tools in boosting the number. To what end? Nobody knows, only that it's important.

Spain were very good in that second half. It didn't look like they were clinging on. They managed the clock well, they held on to possession in tough positions. Overall they earned it.

Totally gutted though. This is such a good England team. Thanks for the journey.

If anything the touch on Walsh's helped the Spanish player, and they gained a fairly strong advantage. I think I agree with the call in the rules of the game but I don't agree with the rules.

Although possession wasn't balanced before the goal, I thought the game was fairly level in terms of chances.
Afterwards though, England looked pretty shaken. They'll have a plan for this, and having a half time team talk will help. Wiegman will know how to calm them down.

It's been a pretty good game so far. I think I'd prefer a boring one.

My fear is that the first team to score, will go on to win by 2 or 3 as the chasing team makes mistakes in forcing the issue.

Lauren Hemp looked absolutely unplayable at times. Fantastic performance.

Millie Bright was also exceptional today. Several clinical balls from deep in England's own half caused real problems and ultimately led to the #Lionesses second goal.

Lauren James will be eligible to play in the final. She will be extra motivated to redeem herself, which won't be good news for Spain.

I don't think I can call out individual performances, because every player put in their best shift of the tournament.

I wouldn't change anything for the final. James is a hell of a weapon to have on the bench.

Worthless or incomplete?

I recognise a lot of the struggles here. When you're stuck in the middle of something, it can be hard to recognise what you've achieved. My old boss used to keep highlighting what I had done, when I was complaining about what hadn't happened yet.
I still quit of course, because advice is for giving, not following.

Impossible to argue England were much other than lucky there. But winning teams are occasionally lucky, and they are now in the last 8 teams that can win this world cup.

By contrast I've no argument with that VAR review, biased goggles be damned. That was really silly by James. I wouldn't have condoned it pre VAR, but after its introduction, it's impossible to get away with.

Not for the first time, the evidence on the VAR monitor seems (to me) to back up the onfield decision, but the referee returns convinced of a clear and obvious error.
