Developer: spends 4+ years and thousands of man hours designing and testing their games--considering every detail and data point.

Plumber after 13 hours playing the game over two days: "naw, see this attack should have different tell and my ability should have no cooldown. No #gamer can overcome obviously bad game design, bro. They ruined it."

Hey folks!

Good news is that I have largely beat the cold and feel well enough to do a stream. The bad news is I have lost my voice in the process, and thus cannot stream.

I suppose when I took that deal with the sea witch to stop my coughing I should have double-checked the fine print. I'm an artist not a lawyer, damn it!

Good golly, am I having a blast with #helldivers2.

It's satire is more clever than I expected. Its player base is generally decent and fun to play with. The server problems seem to be 95% gone. The prospect for new seasons of content is really interesting. The gunplay is tense. The difficulty progression amounts to a confident tutorial of its enemy mechanics. The mission designs are varied and unique. It looks and sounds superb.

It's just bloody good fun in a #game.

You know that stuff can be pulled back out of the public domain into #copyright? It has happened before. The most famous example is probably "It's a Wonderful Life". There doesn't seem to be indication #Disney is going to try to do that this time, but just be aware: #PublicDomain is a neverending fight to own your own culture.

This bolsters my own pet theory: there is no such thing as "neurotypical" or "neurodivergent". Humans have a spectrum (or clusters) of behavioral patterns, and they are all useful and functional, and it's only the modern industrial age where "normal" was defined as behavioral patterns that mean people can be successful in modern environments.

@pearlbear The way I've put it is every "mental disorder" has a correlate superpower. For example, I have depression and that makes me immune to the effects of optimism--which sounds bad, but if you're looking for realistic appraisals of grim situations, depressed people are more reliable. There was a study a while back that showed depressed people were more likely to view things realistically and less likely to inject unfounded assumptions.

Carrying on with my (medically necessary) journeys in #celiac friendly dishes, this spicy chicken and apple salad turned out more balanced than its parts would lead you to believe. I have attached both recipes you need to make it. Requires some prep, but is overall easy. Partner found it too sour but she's very sensitive any acid in food.

I bought a tamago pan for this. It was an overdue waste of my money, but I enjoy making it. If you've never seen it done, imagine making your bed in the morning but instead of sheets, it's raw eggs and then you fold your bed up.

Okay, it's not like that.

Anyways, it's on crispy rice, which are cold rice cubes fried in oil, like all health food.

The other is the perfect salad: gomae.

The trouble I have with recipes like this is it's essentially five different preparations poured together on a plate without a lot of cohesion. It makes for a lot of dishes to clean given its middling result. Another name for this style of dish is "buddha bowls" (which feels probably problematic, right? That California orientalism vibe that most people find cringey?).

Nonetheless, it is good. If you didn't know about crispy chickpeas, you should at least try that.
