I'll be periodically Wonder Trading away a collection of Shiny competitive ready Pokémon on the generation 6 and 7 games for the Nintendo 3DS. The online services for the system are going to be shut down on April 8th, so there's no time like the present!

If you're looking for anything specific, I might be able to hook you up. Long live the 3DS!

My cat Teela is going to the vet today, she is acting very weak and hasn't eaten or drank much over the past day or two as far as I can tell.

Send your well wishes out into the universe in whichever way that you see fit. We love her and hope she can make a speedy recovery.

Do you think there will ever be a "replica" tech market for old computers & displays? There's exciting progress around reproducing old game consoles & arcades with FPGA, but doesn't seem like old computers get the same love.

I'd like to acquire a large CRT monitor with a high refresh rate this year for example, but seems like it'll come down to luck if I find one that works for an extended period of time. I shouldn't have to learn electronics repair to enjoy retro technology.

I like being on Mastodon, but it won't feel like I've really "made it" on here until I get some haters in my replies

Average Mastodon post: A 7 page thread about the ethics of a programming language that nobody has ever heard of

Average Bluesky post: I just saw the [insert thing of the week] and I'm here to tell you that we are so back

If you insist on using hqx upscale filters when playing 2D retro games, you are my enemy. We are enemies. I challenge you.

Made a rambly 30+ minute video with shaky webcam footage documenting my final moments of 3DS online tonight.

It's currently published on YouTube, trying to setup a PeerTube account so maybe I can post more stuff like this on the fediverse in the future. I'll link that in a reply if and when it happens.

Send me your favorite novelty accounts on here, I'm looking for a few things to spruce up my feed. I'm thinking like pictures of art, microfiction, links to interesting websites, stuff like that.

Are there any good word-of-the-day bots on here, for example?

Here's some that I get enjoyment out of, in no particular order:

Here's my collection!

The purple Game Boy Color was my first ever game system, followed by the purple and then the blue SP. The original DMG needs some repairs and replacement parts, it was a garage sale pickup years ago.

I use the a lot nowadays, but I still try to make time for the . The mini handhelds can be a nice change of pace as well! Do you still like old school handhelds? Let me know!

With the #3DS online services being shut down in April 2024, are there any can't-miss online gaming experiences to be had on the platform? It's a shame that this is happening, but at the same time most of my experience with the handheld has been in single player or local multiplayer games.

Outside of trading and battling Pokémon, I'm genuinely curious what (if anything) I would regret missing out on in the future.

Here's my physical Pokémon game collection. My first was actually a Pokémon TCG cartridge, but I traded it away to a childhood friend many years ago. Among the GBC games, Silver and Crystal need new save batteries. Blue, to my shock, still holds a save.

Also pictured: my EZ Flash Omega and Acekard 2i flash carts with many Pokémon games on them. The rest of my collection is entirely digital. Do you still have your old cartridges?

If I can go to the library and borrow a book or piece of media for free to return on later date, what's the functional difference between that and downloading that piece of media from a pirate site? I mean, support your local library and all that, but there's something funny to me about how we split hairs between borrowing and stealing when it comes to a format that is lent away for free and can reproduce infinite copies of itself

Over the past few days, I've been blocked multiple times for simple rebuttals to posts that I didn't agree with. There were no personal attacks, just attempts to provide an alternate viewpoint that may not have been considered.

It's one thing to block someone for harassment or offensive speech, but it concerns me to see people so quickly short circuit a reasonable back and forth because they don't want to hear another person's opinion. Have some thicker skin and stand by what you have to say.

It's getting difficult for me to look at AI images without feeling repulsed. I can't tell if it's the developed pre-conceived notions about AI buzzword technology that make me feel this way, or if the images actually are that visually off-putting without needing the additional context

Of all the things I miss from my past, being in a band tops the list. I can't shake the feeling that part of me died years ago when I stopped playing music with other people.
