Dimitris Koufontinas wurde 1958 im Tabakdorf Terpni bei Nigrita in Nordgriechenland geboren. 1972 zog seine Familie nach Athen und aus den Bauern wurden Industriearbeiter. Koufontinas besuchte das Gymnasium in Exarchia und studierte anschließend Rechts- und Wirtschaftswissenschaften an der Universität Athen. Sein politisches Bewusstsein erwachte im Aufstand am 17. November 1973, politisch aktiv wurde er in den Klassenkämpfen des Metapolitefsi, der Transformationsperiode nach dem Sturz der griechischen Obristendiktatur. 1977 bekam er Kontakt zu illegalen Organisationsstrukturen und ging 1985 als Mitglied der Revolutionären Organisation des 17. November in den Untergrund.

Nach der Festnahme mehrere Mitglieder tauchte er 2002 bewusst aus der Illegalität auf, um die Geschichte seiner Organisation und deren revolutionäre Ziele zu verteidigen. Das Schweigen und die Geständnisse anderer Organisationsmitglieder kritisierte er als würdelos. Mittlerweile sitzt er seit 16 Jahren im Hochsicherheitstrakt des Korydallos-Gefängnisses in Athen.

Dimitris Koufontinas ist heute nach wie vor politisch aktiv und hat mehrere Bücher ins Griechische übersetzt, etwa Wie Efeu an der Mauer der Tupamaros Eleuterio Fernandez Huidobro und Mauricio Rosencof.

Do you know of any #anarchist group in the #WestBank or in Gaza?

I know that there are some Palestinians that abide to anarchism, but they are afraid to organize, because it is too dangerous. When the anarchist federation Ahdut was still active we met some Palestinian activists in some of the villages in the occupied territories who regard positively our activity. When we printed (and translated) our opinion about the conflict in the region and gave copies of it to activists of the Palestinian village Bil'in and to activists of the joint struggle from other places, nearly all of them expressed their agreement with our anarchist-communist position. In general, I think that most Palestinians agree on some form of coexistence with the Jews, not because they like us too much or anything, but because this is the reality now. They don’t agree with the proposal of the radical islamists to expel all the Jews. It was to those people, that are in favor of a common future, that we tried to transmit our message of one society based on direct democracy. There was a survey in Gaza before the October attack that showed that approximately one third of its inhabitants were in favor of one society with Jews remaining in it.

There is, however, one group that pretends to be anarchist – #Fauda. But they are not anarchist. They speak, for example, about God. And neither are they Palestinian. They are fake. They are a group that pretends to be both Palestinian and anarchist. There are too many things about them that point in this direction. I don’t know if they are just a bunch of crazy people from abroad, or a creation of the secret services. I honestly don’t know.

Area C (Hebrew: שטח C; Arabic: منطقة ج) is the fully Israeli-controlled and only contiguous territory in the West Bank,[1] defined as the whole area outside the Palestinian enclaves (Areas A and B).[2] Area C constitutes about 61 percent of the West Bank territory, contains all Israeli settlements other than those in East Jerusalem, and more than 99% of the area is off limits or heavily restricted for Palestinians.[3][1] The area was committed in 1995 under the Oslo II Accord to be "gradually transferred to Palestinian jurisdiction" (with an option for land swaps under a final agreement), but such transfer did not happen.[4]: vii The area is richly endowed with natural resources.[1]

Area C (excluding East Jerusalem), which along with Area B is under Israeli military control since June 1967, is home to roughly 400,000 Israeli settlers,[5] and approximately 300,000 Palestinians, who live in more than 500 residential areas located partially or fully in Area C.[6] The Jewish population in Area C is administered by the Israeli Judea and Samaria Area administration, into which Israeli law is "pipelined", whereas the Palestinian population is directly administered by the Israeli Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories under military law. The Palestinian Authority is responsible for medical and educational services to Palestinians in Area C; however, infrastructure construction and supervision is done by Israel.[7]

The international community considers the settlements in occupied territory to be illegal,[8][9][10][11][12][13] and the United Nations has repeatedly upheld the view that Israel's construction of settlements constitutes a violation of the Fourth Geneva Convention.[14][15][16][17] Israel disputes the position of the international community and the legal arguments that were used to declare the settlements illegal.[18] The "outposts" are in contravention of Israeli law as well.[19]

#Kahanism (Hebrew: כהניזם) is a religious Zionist ideology based on the views of Rabbi Meir Kahane, founder of the Jewish Defense League and the Kach party in Israel.

Kahane held the view that most Arabs living in Israel are enemies of Jews and Israel itself, and believed that a Jewish theocratic state, where non-Jews have no voting rights, should be created.[1]

The Kach party has been banned by the Israeli government. In 2004, the U.S. State Department designated it a Foreign Terrorist Organization.[2][3] In 2022, it was removed from the U.S. terror blacklist due to "insufficient evidence" of the group's ongoing activity, but it remains a Specially Designated Global Terrorist (SDGT) entity.[4]

The Otzma Yehudit party, which has been called Kahanist and anti-Arab,[5][6] won six seats in the 2022 election and is a member of the current Israeli government. The party, and the Kahanist movement as a whole, have been described as espousing Jewish fascism.[7][8]
