Today I learned you can drag an app from the ‘Side Dock' in Stage Manager, which will give you 2 apps side by side. You can also drag an app via it's title bar back into the 'Side Dock' to return it. Noticed this is MacOS Ventura... about to upgrade to Sonoma. #macOS #techtips

I've been quiet most of this week because I've been slightly off the grid and just chilling in rural Maryland while house sitting (and pool sitting and dog sitting) but I spent a bunch of time messing around with the Anbernic RG35XX running GarlicOS so I'll probably do some posts about that...

I want so badly to switch from Chromium (Brave) to Firefox but the way it handles too-many tabs is still, in 2023, so much worse than how Chrome-based browsers do it.

Chrome (and Brave) do absolutely everything they can to keep all your tabs on the screen, to the point of shrinking the tabs to near-uselessness if need be. Firefox gives up and gives you a stupid scrollbar for tabs almost immediately. Even if you change the minimum tab size, it just renders them in increasingly stupid ways.

@rodhilton As a person with 80+ tabs in Chrome ( really ) -- Firefox forced me to have less open. Tab Containers is a great extension that I use daily. Keeps cookies from shopping sites contained. I do wish you could group tabs. However, tab search has been handy too.

@rodhilton Grouping tabs is what I miss from Chrome. Well, sounds like in 2023, you have zero interest in Firefox. 🙃

UI/UX from scratch is hard. 😕 Sometimes I wish I had some designer to talk to about stuff I develop for Questlog.

One thing that annoys me extremely: I just don't get into mobile first for it. This is weird because I myself use it exclusively on mobile and most users seem to use it mobile only. 😅

I will finally get there but working alone on something as full stack in frontend, backend, UI and UX is sometimes pretty hard.

Since I was incapacitated yesterday I mostly watched PICO-8 video tutorials from Nerdy Teachers, which were very insightful.

I think I've changed my mind about the first game I want to make. I was probably too ambitious so I'm going to dial it back for the first effort.

I've got a little bit of free time next week so we'll see how it goes.

Weird issue with GarlicOS on the RG35XX today. Games launch, then quit, and the screen blinks/flashes repeatedly. (Doesn’t happen when I switch back to stock OS.)

@rasterweb nice! Going to add that to my notes for future Gary lol. I did read where the SD card that comes bundled with the device tend to corrupt - not saying that’s what happened to you. Definitely will add it to the second brain though. Thanks!

Disney annual gross profit for 2022 was $28.321B, a 27.07% increase from 2021.

Maybe they should live within their means and shut up about having to spend money to do .

Adobe Illustrator does something VERY odd to my Mac. It randomly stalls Finder upon saving to my NAS.

It does recover if I leave it long enough... It's frustrating because it's ONLY Illustrator that does it.

Also, it sometimes leaves a tmp file in the save location, along with the correctly named ai file.

@andycarolan I would advise to save directly to an external HD or your primary if you can. Then use something like Chronosync Express or FreeFileSync to schedule backups to the NAS.

Why? If you lose network connectivity it could incorrectly save / not-save the files. Just more risky.

@Stark9837 yes, that's correct --- and now more like a Firefox extension that does that. There was a Chrome extension that exists but it has 10 year old code.
