I also have arthritis learned recently that pain tolerance can lower while in burnout. Doesnโ€™t that make arthritis a cycle of burnout? Or I mean cyclical.

I am truly amazed with what @rolle managed to pull off with his #MastodonBirdUI project.

I love it not necessary for making Mastodon instance looking like #DeadBirdSite, but for making it prettier.

I've done some CSS modding on my instance, and while I made it more bearable than default #Mastodon UI, I didn't do great job about it.

So yeah, take this as an endorsement and recommendation - go and grab #MastodonBirdUI now.

it looks like one of the reasons they're so strict about #ADHD diagnoses here is simply about capacity, according to this news story i'm reading:

the public mental healthcare system is completely overwhelmed. it doesn't have enough money and resources and must triage heavily.

some people get diagnosed by private healthcare providers and pay big sums for it, yet still get turned down for further assistance when they return to the public healthcare system afterwards. a diagnosis isn't enough. it must be a very serious case to be eligible for therapy.

this severe under-capacity explains a lot. that's why they offer so little help. best you can hope for is medications or welfare money.

@thor I have health insurance. My therapist doesnโ€™t accept it. Took me 3 years to find her. Tried 2 others. None accept insurance near me. Current is $170 USD per session. 2 sessions a month. I have to pay cash. My health insurance is through work. No job, no insurance. Get sick or mentally ill for more than 2 weeks? Lose your job in most cases.

My tax money goes to war. Americaโ€™s โ€œhealthcareโ€ system is a joke.

I have ADHD and Arthritis. I worry about getting old. No support system.

when i do something that doesn't fit the usual Fediverse format, it's usually very much on purpose, as a kind of experiment or novelty thing.

@thor I love it when I trigger "that's not the way you do itโ€ responses out of people. Offline and online. Iโ€™m usually thinking, "Yes, I know, I'm not an idiot. I'm experimenting."

There are more than one way to do things and I want to explore.

Warming up the productivity engines by putting some effort into my internal satellite TV app, which now has a new product name to go with. Revamping the janky 2015 ObjC codebase with modern Swift. Still an internal app, however, not one I have plans to distribute

@recursive I do this too! And with a lot of memories. They trigger by a โ€œsound clip" bubbling up from memory. Especially if it was a core memory.

I get so frustrated by most educational content (ESPECIALLY geared towards beginners) because nobody ever explains the actual methods & systems that underpin all the practical steps.

Repeating specific steps is nice for dipping your toe in the water, but with no framework to understand why youโ€™re taking these steps in that order or how those steps tie together with the larger concepts - youโ€™re just memorizing.

I need practical examples + explanations of systems that apply to any concepts.
