Fallout seems to be getting the Edgerunners treatment at the moment. Shame about the fallout London fiasco, that would have convinced me to spin it up again.
Ah yes, a perfectly normal thing to do after I’ve previously spent thousands on my NVIDIA GPU and am just getting into Linux. Love this comment when it comes up.
I agree, and it’s been a fine experience with nvidia on Xorg. “Buy new hardware” is not what someone getting into Linux should hear though if we want to increase the number of Linux users.
It’s very tech focused over here, but that makes a lot of sense when you consider only tech aligned people can figure out how to get it all working as it is.
That’s a really good way of looking at it actually and I agree. The community is kind of filtered by only people who care enough to leave reddit, but also I think there is an aspect that we’re trying to escape the consequences of the karma system on posting/commenting behaviour.
I’ve always thought that having accounts that showed your total number of upvotes incentivises posting the same in-jokes endlessly. Bot accounts with high karma can even be sold to people who care about having a high karma account.
SE is going to look at their production budget as an investment and compare that to the ROI of putting that money into the stock market, that then sets the expectation.
Problem is that all the covid money printing situation really messed with the equation, as the stock market exploded while gaming and other discretionary spending has now decreased for their target audience post-covid.
Honestly for myself, the demo just didn’t excite me. So much of the discussion was around how bad the textures were on the performance mode as well. Knowing its coming to pc, I’ll play it there.
They get paid whether sponsored sections of the video are skipped or not though, which is the beauty of sponsorblock. Sometimes the sponsor sections are high effort though and worth watching.
That’s fair, I hadn’t considered that people may actually want to click through on sponsored content to help the creator. I really enjoy not having to see another ad for the usual sponsored brands ever again though (raid, vpns etc) .
A jury has awarded more than $1.1 million to an Idaho drag performer who accused a far-right blogger of defaming him when she falsely claimed that he exposed himself to a crowd, including children, during a Pride event in June 2022....
Such a hard agree. My wife won’t even let me install Linux, which takes out the more technical aspects of the above.
She’s just comfortable on Windows. Most people don’t want to learn something new and even fewer actually care about privacy.
Edit: Us Linux users assume that if Windows gets bad enough people will switch to Linux, when we all should face facts that normies will much sooner switch to Mac.
I use chatgpt a lot and think AI is a really useful disruptive technology. I really don’t want it crammed into every piece of tech I use, without a choice to opt out.
