@NatureMC @TwraSun Das Wort "Klimaschutz" hat er trotzdem nur einmal, nebenbei, in den Mund genommen, und hat sich ansonsten auf "Klimaanpassung" konzentriert.

Klimaanpassung ist sicherlich nötig; aber ich fänd es wichtig, dass Herr Söder auch die Wichtigkeit von der Abmilderung der Klimakrise klar macht. Dieses Thema lässt er halt praktisch aus. Nicht wirklich weit gedacht, was der Ministerpräsident da so sagt.

Danke jedenfalls für deine Quellenangabe! Sowieso: ein Hoch auf Quellen und Verlinkungen! Wir haben schon genug unklare Infos in den sozialen Medien; da ist es super, wenn die "Quellenbrigade" das mit Substanz unterfüttert. Wär natürlich noch schöner, wenn die Quellen gleich im Original-Posting drin stünden. Naja.

@gabrielesvelto @qqmrichter Sorry to hijack this thread; but since you appear to know a lot about this topic: is it possible (or even common) for websites to have memory leaks, e.g. in their JS code? And if so, do you have links to possible solutions (for me, as end-user)?

I suspect that some of the tabs I keep open for long time use up more and more memory (and they have lots of JS code); reloading the tabs appears to help, but I'm looking for an automatic solution.

Das ist so witzig, da bekommt ein Unternehmen nicht Stromausfälle im Millisekundenbereich auf die Reihe, vernachlässigt also seine eigenen Sicherungspflichten, und kommt damit ins Fernsehen 😂

Being less flippant about this - the xz backdoor relied on a line that was present in the tarball release, but not in the git repo. Do we have any infrastructure for validating this kind of thing? (It's expected that the tarball would contain things that aren't in git - for example, the configure script doesn't exist in git, but is expected to be in the release. The problem is that extra code was injected into the configure script after it was generated)

@mcc @mjg59 Naive question: why do distros actually use the release tarballs these days? Couldn't they just as well use a fresh VCS clone for building, and then run autogen.sh first?

My understanding of the autoconf approach is that these "release tarballs" (which already include the generated "configure" file) were mainly a nicety for end users; but these days the CI pipelines of distros probably wouldn't be bothered by generating the "configure" file themselves, no?

Hey Fediverse, durch https://infinitemac.org/ ist mir wieder eine alte Frage eingefallen. Als ich damals zum ersten Mal mit MacOS in Berührung gekommen bin (vermutlich System 6.0.7, Anfang der 90er?), gab es da ein "Intro-Lernspiel", um Doppelklicken und sowas zu lernen. Eine Aufgabe war, in einem Programm einen Termin für ein Essen in einem Restaurant ("Bei Luigi"?) anzulegen.

... oder hab ich dieses Lernspiel nur geträumt? Kennt hier jemand dieses Intro-Programm?

Habs wohl gefunden! Hier ist ein Screenshot von "Macintosh Intro".

Das Programm hab ich unter https://macintoshgarden.org/apps/mac-intro gefunden und dann in https://infinitemac.org/1991/System%207.0 reingezogen und dort gestartet. Und im Intro soll man an einer Stelle tatsächlich ein Memo (wie der Text erklärt: "neudeutsch für: Aktennotiz") schreiben. Im Memo lädt man dann eine Kollegin zum Arbeitsessen bei "Luigi" ein. Passt hinreichend zur Erinnerung!

Ich kann das Intro echt empfehlen, insbes. für die Maus-Übungen :-D

Turns out the actual reason my video streaming was broken was an upstream kernel bug where under certain circumstances if a packet too big ICMP was received on one interface but a different interface was sending the traffic, the cache on the egress interface wouldn't be properly updated, so full marks to Fastly for diagnosing that and working to get it upstream: https://lore.kernel.org/netdev/4be64c29-f495-4fdb-a565-2540745d5412@fastly.com/T/

  • and they traced it to a bug in an OSS project
  • and then your problem was indeed fixed by merging a bugfix into that OSS project?

Hab heute versucht, für mein Fahrrad Ketten-Schmier-Zeug ohne PTFE zu bekommen. Das ist ja echt schwierig! Von den drei Läden, die ich abgeklappert hab, hatte nur einer überhaupt was PTFE-freies im Angebot, und das war grad ausverkauft.

Habt ihr da noch Empfehlungen, was ich am ehesten nehmen kann, um die quietschende Kette wieder geschmeidig zu machen?

Ransomware hat drei Kern-Enabler, die zusammenwirken um solche Katastrophen herbeizuführen:

  1. Die apokalyptischen Reiter, Azure, Windows, Active Directory, Exchange/Office. Sie sind nicht sicher zu betreiben. Nicht einmal durch Microsoft, sicher nicht durch deutsche Behöreden.

  2. Kryptowährungen. Ransomware ist eine Sache, ein Geschäft wird sie nur durch diesen Bezahlkanal.

  3. Der IT-Kompetenzlevel in deutschen Verwaltungen – nicht mal Grundschutz, WTF?

@filid @isotopp @linuzifer Soweit ich das verstanden hab, hatten die in Olpe ja durchaus vollständige Backups; aber der Restore dauert trotzdem so lange, weil halt alle Hosts erst neu aufgesetzt werden müssen?!

Das ist also dann "der Schritt nach dem Restore", der hier fehlschlägt, oder? Also "Disaster Recovery"? Ich frag mich halt, wie viele Firmen darauf vorbereitet sind (das betrifft ja auch Fälle wie "Rechenzentrum abgebrannt, wir müssen ASAP ein neues RZ und neue Hardware besorgen").

Thing that I wish existed: A command-line meme generator. Something that you could call like

memgen --template tintin-wednesday bubble2="Captain, it's Monday"

or

or

Templates can be downloaded as separate packages (usually with more than one template) or created by the user. Text & images can also be placed manually using coordinates.

@isotopp Bzgl. "Außerdem werden die Patterns in einer Exclude-Datei mit --iexclude-file ebenfalls ignoriert.": dafür benutz ich gern die Option --exclude-if-present . Die gibt an, dass Ordner vom Backup ausgeschlossen werden, wenn sie eine bestimmte "Markierungs-Datei" enthalten. So muss ich keine zentrale Exclude-Datei pflegen, sondern kann die Markierungen direkt bei den Daten halten.

Beispiel:
--exclude-if-present=.exclude-from-backup.bin:EXCLUDE_THIS_DIR_FROM_BACKUP

Also z.B. https://events.ccc.de/congress/2023/hub/de/event/developing-the-next-generation-open-source-event-m/ find ich in dem schedule.xml noch nicht. Meinst du, die Datei wird noch erweitert? Oder brauch ich dafür einen anderen Link?

  • auf den beiden (sichtbaren) Seiten der Säule sind leicht unterschiedliche Texte zu sehen (auf dem rechten Bildschirm steht unten mehr Text als auf dem linken). Also sind das min. zwei Computer, die aber den gleichen Fehler haben. Verdächtig!

  • einige Zeilen sind in der Mitte gekürzt (z.B. "Stopping Hardware R...Gatherer Daemon"); aber das Ellipsis-Zeichen ist ein Rechteck. Welche Schriftart wird da verwendet?

Gibt's eigentlich irgendeinen coolen Workflow, um mobil neue Geometrie in einzutragen?

StreetComplete funktioniert ja schon ganz gut fürs Ergänzen von Tags, aber für "hier steht ein Gebäude" oder "hier gehört ein Zaun eingezeichnet" oder "der verschlungene Fußweg hier fehlt" ist das beste was mir einfällt Vespucci, und so richtig warm werde ich damit nicht.

Oder halt daheim dann iD am Rechner & mit ner Maus, aber dann ist man nicht mehr vor Ort um Kram nachzuschauen.

@scy Es gibt die "SCEE"-App ("Street Complete expert edition" – https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/SCEE).
Da kannst du mit Long-Press ein Menü bekommen, mit dem du wohl zumindest neue Knoten in Wege einfügen kannst. Und du kannst wohl auch gelaufene Wege aufzeichnen; ich weiß aber nicht, ob du diese Aufzeichnungen auch gleich in der App als neue Straßen eintragen kannst.

Wenn du StreetComplete schon erfolgreich benutzt hast, könnte es sich also lohnen, SCEE mal anzuschauen.
