I have finished my book and two days ago I read it for the first time without editing in mind.

I struggle to hold onto a strong sense of achievement (I think this is an ADHD thing) but what I can say for sure is that I am very proud of myself for writing it.

It's a good book and in 2025 you can read it too.

Today, I submitted my book 367 days after signing the contract. It has been an intense, exciting, boring, distressing, depressing, and uplifting process. A bit of everything over a year, but I'm so proud of myself for pushing through. The book will be out in 2025.

Now, to figure out what to do with my time and my hands...

@Unknowable I try to play drums. I've wanted to all my life, and I got an e-kit for my 40th in Feb.

I also know nothing about this business, I am reliably informed by those who do that it takes roughly a year from submission to publishing. I feel like a spring time publication suits the book though.

@tanyakaroli I can understand. I think PhD writing is so much harder though because it has to be so structured and adehere to academic rules and regulations.

This was my first foray into stone carving. It evolved spontaneously as I was working, but he has the look of Pan about him?

I just got a lovely block of stone as a birthday gift and I'm very excited to do more carving this summer.

I used Faulds stone carving chisels, and a (too soft) sandstone.

Some recent drystone work. A complete strip out and rebuild of this garden retaining wall which failed after only 30 years due to traced stone. All stone reused and we brought in some local fieldstone too.

Super sustainable, beautiful, lasts for generations. What's not to like?
