Christian Fascist culture warriors do not become obstructionist and performative bigots when they reach federal Parliament. They often start their careers at local councils. Which is where we see them practicing their bullying skills against other councillors. The other councillors are there to work for the benefit of local residents, not to express narcissistic lust for power and control over other people. This is why it has become so hard to get competent, hard-working, professionally qualified people to run for local council positions. Politics is often a career of choice for poorly educated naive, simple-minded people who have only their bigotry and love for bullying to bring to the job. Membership in the Liberal party is -- in and of itself -- evidence of a profound character flaw. It's one major aspect is lack of empathy for anyone different to oneself.

Microsoft Store promotes gambling apps to children, right next to Roblox and Minecraft.

I'm sure this is completely not intentional.

@DrALJONES Trump stands a better chance of getting elected this time than the first time. If he wins, we're not going to be worrying about creating a democracy. We're going to get plutocracy jammed up our backsides forever.

I'm going to track this Australian government initiative over the next three years to see whether they actually deliver anything of value. "Sounds like a good idea ... in theory". Many government initiatives such as this start out with a good mission statement, but don't get appropriate resourcing or executive mandate, and gradually disappear after a few years.

The government, despite a non-binding motion passed by the House of Commons, will cease future arms sales to "Israel," according to Foreign Affairs Minister Melanie Joly.

The initial motion called for the recognition of the State of Palestine but was changed to "establishment of the State of Palestine as part of a negotiated two-state solution negotiation."

In addition, the initial motion urged for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza but was then conditioned on disarming the Palestinian Resistance.

Third, the suspension of "all trade in military goods and technology with "Israel" and increase efforts to stop the illegal trade of arms, including to H-am-as" was rephrased to Canada's commitment to "cease the further authorization and transfer of arms exports to Israel to ensure compliance with Canada's arms export regime and increase efforts to stop the illegal trade of arms, including to H-am-as."

Minister Joly said that the change in rephrasing is substantive, not only symbolic, indicating that Canada will no longer export arms to "Israel".

Who unequivocally supports Israel? Bronwyn Bishop. Rowan Dean. Scott Morrison. Peter Dutton. Donald Trump. Rupert Murdoch. Kerry Stokes.

If Israel relies on Fascists such as these for support, this tells me everything I need to know.

In Australia, our public taxes are generously diverted by religious politicians to fund private religious schools. Mostly run by the Catholic Church Inc.

In America, capitalist corporations (Catholic Church Inc. again), are trying to divert public taxes to fund elite private schools. See the video.

If the Catholic Church Inc., wants to run private schools, they can fund them privately. Use some of the money collected by the Vatican Bank.

Bit too late for us in Australia, where our taxes are generously used to fund elite private religious schools. Which enforces the "we're born to rule, we're rich, you're poor, but you poor shits have to pay for our privileges with your taxes hahaha" social division that the wealthy love.

    How did this even happen?

Oh, PS: pay some goddamn tax, too.

Actually, this will probably get pushed through. The developers of large apartment buildings hate providing space for resident car parking. They'd make more money using that space for more units. The only people who will oppose it are existing residents in the local areas, who park on the street. Many residents of large apartment buildings are still going to have cars, and they'll be competing for parking spots on the streets. Hilarity ensues. https://www.theguardian.com/australia-news/2024/mar/14/victoria-car-park-apartment-minimum-requirements-close-to-public-transport-ptal

Lots of calls from unknown numbers -- who choose to leave no message -- despite my recorded message saying “if I don’t already have your number and know who you are and you don’t leave a message telling me what you want -- you will never talk to me”. Everyone I know is doing the same. A blind phone number might as well be an IP address. Tradespeople and estate agents -- who have to answer their phone -- tell me if they get spam marketing calls they immediately hang up. Voice telephony is dead.

Docklands? “A cohesive business and social ecosystem”? He must be living in a different Docklands. Docklands is the kind of failure you get when you let private capital mandate urban planning. It’s taken 25 years to reverse engineer Docklands to something that is still bad design.

I have difficult relationships with Western . Especially ones who volunteered; weren't sent by CAF. I think most folks can understand why. Me & my family suffered from US led war on our peoples. I don't care how much you respect military veterans, if you can't understand the horrors inflicted upon by peoples you consider military heroes in US & Canada. Your 'heroes' many of my innocent family & countless millions of others. We don't get support.
