I wish we had a common, shorthand way to describe the movement to increase street safety, walking, cycling, mass transit use/availability, and density. Political polls often ask what issues matter most to you, but we don't have a common way to describe it to pollsters, so its popularity never gets detected.

Given how low my rent is in the Midwest, seems like renting is the smarter financial choice atm. But finances aren't everything. QOL is important too, though harder to quantify.

Young men aren’t being forced to follow toxic masculine icons like Tate and Peterson, they’re choosing to consume their content over healthy masculine icons.

Models for healthy masculinity exist. They’re unpopular, because young men don’t want to be healthy. They are choosing to be toxic.

So let’s all remember who is at fault and who needs to change here - it’s the menfolk, not everyone else. Stay fabulous. Get a cat.

@Neblib @Slyence Few yrs I caught my younger bro watching Dan Bilzerian on Insta. My brother was already ~30yo, too. Wtf?

I poked him, "what is this content doing for you? Is this aspirational?" Because it's super vapid and I knew Dan was a prime example of toxic masculinity. He kinda mumbled "he's got a nice house and cars..."

My brother was always the more "macho" b/t the two of us. He's a literal Chad (Nominative Determinism at work). But still, it was weird seeing him watch that garbage.

My reaction to #ColoradoSprings transit vision for 2050 is: Who hurt you? Who beat you down so much that you can’t imagine anything better? It’s hard for me to accept a few new bus routes and improved frequency on downtown buses constitute a bold money-is-no-object vision.

Left by the wayside is a request by the Missouri Department of Transportation to add Amtrak service from Kansas City to St. Joseph and Kansas City to southwest Missouri.

So shortsighted. Expanding/widening highways, but not funding new service.

@archliberal @fivey Early on with USB-C, I spent like 8hrs researching and looking for a USB-C cable that would work with a Nintendo Switch and a power bank. I think the Switch had some weird PD implementation.

@jenbanim I've definitely seen both. Or maybe similar.

I've seen old, massive commercial printers hooked up to computers from the 00s, running Windows XP (not connected to Internet). Because the printer isn't vendor-supported anymore and there are no modern drivers.

Then back in like 2020, an insurance company that was using a custom MS Access 2007 DB. No one knew how it really worked (and officially my company didn't support this thing). Because the one-man developer died in like 2014.

@petes_bread_eqn_xls Where I was at the time, seemed like we were one of the last to go home because we were "essential." Like mid-April.

Only when owner's wife got real mad at him did we finally go to lockdown. We only did like 4 weeks of WFH, and still a few times still had to show up.

As soon as lockdown was over, we were back visiting clients' office and such. Amazing I didn't get COVID til this past Nov.
