Hey friends! Okay, this one was tough! I really moved around A LOT yesterday to get this shot right. If you would have told me before, I wouldn't have believed that I would struggle so hard in finding THE spot for this shot.

But in the end, I'm quite happy with it now. I will return to this spot, that's sure. I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed it taking (in <-16°C) and processing 😉

Silent Listening 📡

A short picture thread from yesterday's expedition to Raisting Earth Station, in freezing fog (-12℃) and being completely alone there. This station (opened in 1963, still one of the largest in the world) enabled satellite comms between Norh America & Europe for the very 1st time and then was also used for transmitting the moon landing and the 1972 Munich Olympics...

The foggy weather and flat light was almost exactly as I'd hoped for (and been patiently waiting & planning for). It absolutely emphasized the artificiality of these structures in the surrounding landscape. Also loved the design, scale and architecture of some of the antennas. A pretty special place & experience - we shall return!

Good morning from beautifully frosty Saskatchewan

A bunch of trees and a frozen pond in a snowy field. Every twig on every branch on the bare trees is covered with white frost
Very frosty spruce trees in a row. Looks like the fake flocking that you can get on christmas trees, but this is the real deal!
Frost growing on one side of a whole bunch of bare sticks in a shrub. It looks really weird how asymmetrical it is.

I decided, NOT to do a mountain today because I want to process photos and I am going to some socialising event this evening.

But still, some physical activity was required 💪. Wow, this feels so much better now.

I can just recommend: #getoutside, do just some physical activity, get a bit sweaty - don't set your expectations too high to avoid frustration & enjoy the feeling afterwards. - Just DO it!

And post it afterwards, we'll be cheering for you!!

Ending the year with cleaning up stuff: deleting files and folders that I will definitely not miss (I still had PDFs from university times), throwing away cables, putting stuff online for sale that I don't want to use/own any more...

I took this shot after decending from a mountain into low hanging clouds / fog and followed the dirt road through the fields. It's hard to describe - feeling like seeing nothing but the path ahead. Which was all I really needed in that moment. No distractions.

Hey friends of the #mountains. It's been a nice hike today. We went for a mountain where my wife has no good memories of. Yet it worked out very well today so that she is super happy with it. We had some #snow on top of the mountain. The rest was free of snow and easy to walk. We expected more wind and dressed accordingly - and in the end a bit too warm.
Photographywise it was really not good. #Winter without snow and a very cloudy day.. That's a challenge.
