Let me make it very clear that any American on my timeline who does not go out and vote for Biden in November (barring legitimate reasons like sickness etc.) will be instantly blocked. This includes people who don't vote, and people who vote third party or who do similar things that help fascist Trump get elected.

Anyone who does not vote for Biden is complicit in more dead Palestinians, more dead Ukrainians, more dead LGBTQ people, more dead pregnant women, more dead babies.

@thomholwerda Amen to that! I've never been more disappointed in a Biden policy than his handling of Israel's Gaza actions but Trump on that would have been infinitely worse. He has done plenty of good things with a razor thin majority and despite pushback from the courts. Much of that pushback is because of how stacked they are with Trump/Federalist Society toadies thanks to Trump's first term. If Trump is reelected there is zero chance Alito and Thomas wait to see who wins after him. We will thus get two more crazy young very far right justices that will sit on that court for the rest of my natural life and a reversal to some of the progress we've made in rebalancing the courts over the last four years. For President and US Senate I have been a single issue voter since 2004: The Courts. It's not sexy but that's where so much of these battles are fought and now lost. We'd have a 7-2 centrist-to-liberal court if more people thought that way rather than a 7-2 court that is at least as far right as it has been in 100 years if not the furthest right wing in history.

@thomholwerda I gave to Asahi Linux for a while because Linux has left me squeeze out many more years of life out of my x86 MacBook Air than I would have after Apple dropped macOS support for it. I can't imagine it ever being at the point where I'd buy new Apple hardware specifically to run Linux on it though. Running Linux in VMs gets me what Linux experience I need when using Mac hardware over my actual Linux hardware. I do look forward to hopefully getting a non-Apple ARM computer designed to run Linux. These Windows machines with all their crap though not sure will be something I want to buy though. I'm hoping System76 or someone comes up with something.

I am astounded at how advanced a game Elite was on the BBC Micro. This video does a great exploration of the mechanics of it, how it was written, the history around it, and its influences to this day. He also gave a big shout out to others who have thoroughly documented the game as well.

I just realized that Vox's Future Perfect wrapped itself in the "Effective Altruism" EA language when they launched six years ago and continues to do so.
