Well I'm not sure I agree with your decision to automatically set up systemd-boot as my UEFI boot manager just because I'm installing the systemd-boot package.

I literally just wanted to read the manpage and play around with bootctl.

I especially disagree with your decision to first fuck with my existing, working GRUB2 installation and then copy kernel and initrd to /boot/efi, which turns out to be not large enough on my system, leading to a somewhat broken boot setup.

Nachdem mir heute gesagt wurde, ich sei "so gut mit Linux", erzähl ich euch mal, wie ich meinen Nachmittag verbracht habe. Thread! 🧵

Wenn ihr mögt, gebt Ratschläge, aber wundert euch nicht, wenn ich nicht reagiere. Bin angenervt.

Ich habe nen Fujitsu ScanSnap S1300i Duplex-Einzugscanner. Früher hab ich unter Windows den proprietären Treiber benutzt, um in PDFs zu scannen, mit OCR. Wenn ich mal nen Kassenzettel scanne, erkennt die Software das und macht automatisch ein sehr schmales PDF daraus.

if your password vault solution can fall vulnerable to something like this, maybe consider a vault solution whose attack surface doesnt include executives who run the company. maybe self-host the vault and work out the syncing plumbing for yourself.

Wir sind gestern 470 km mit dem Elektroauto gefahren: Von einem Dorf nahe Amsterdam bis nach Simpelveld in Südlimburg, einmal durch die ganzen Niederlande.

Das Auto weiß von einem Energieverbrauch von 79.15 kWh zu berichten, für einen Durchschnittsverbrauch von 16.8 kWh/100 km.

Das ist der Energiegehalt von 2l Benzin (2.19 Euro/l) oder 1.6l Diesel (1.77 Euro/l bei der Tanke bei uns um die Ecke).

Geladen wurden 44.55kWh bei Fastned für 0.69 Euro/kWh = 30.73 Euro plus 34.6kWh daheim (kostenlos)

@isotopp Und wenn du jetzt noch die gesamten Verbrauchskosten auf den Kilometer rechnest, wird’s noch günstiger. Alleine schon Inspektionen und Flüssigkeiten sind beim Stromer deutlich günstiger.

Kleine Inspektion beim Zoe sind ~100€, beim Verbrenner kommst du nicht unter 400€ beim Händler weg. Bremsen halten länger, Reifenverschleiss ist geringer..

users! I'm curious how many of us are using "modern", "enhanced", "reimagined" versions of classic command-line tools. Think bat instead of cat, rg instead of grep, exa instead of ls.

If you don't use them, why? Is the installation overhead too much, e.g. because you're using a lot of machines? Does your brain need to stay compatible with the standard tools for some reason?

Feel free to write a reply, the poll can't possibly cover everything :)

Ich verstehe nicht, warum Brillen für einkommensschwächere Haushalte keine Kassenleistung sind. 👓

Ich wollte mir gestern für Notfälle eine Zweitbrille holen und hier ist eine Optiker-Kette (Apollo).

Hab mir ein absolutes Basisgestell aus Acetat ausgesucht und dann nach den günstigsten Gläsern gefragt.
270€ war das günstigste, das ich mit meiner Sehstärke kaufen konnte.
Und dann noch 10-11 Tage Lieferzeit.
