@ingorohlfing @academicchatter I have talked with some providers of Elsevier. It seems that the pricing can be overwhelming for small institutions. They might even have to pay the same amount as some bigger ones

However, we should also make clear the risks that some "researchers" and rookie students use it as starting and final point for #LiteratureReview

I see more and more scholars offering online seminars for a fee. Sometimes for a relatively low price (e.g. here https://hcommons.social/@medievalists/112236157667793040), sometimes for 800 to 1000 Euros. This seems to be especially common in the Anglo-Saxon world. I find this highly problematical and, frankly, unethical.

Who is the target audience? Who should pay for it? Students of these academics? Who hope to get better grades by participating?

Although I understand that academics are under pressure and are looking for alternative sources of income: This cannot be the answer!

Education should be free and available to all! What do you think?

I don't agree. Education always has a cost and somebody has to fund it.

Ths state should fund the required (formal) education.

But, other types of education should be funded by those who receive it. Or, establish some funds that tries to support.

I mean. I use Android and I do not the Google Assistant. I have thought of buying an Alexa, but I'm not sure of what I could do with it.

I've reached out to Meta/Threads devs regarding Nodeinfo and stats numbers for https://FediDB.org, unfortunately their legal dept rejected this.

I will use estimated numbers with the hope they will see this and have justification for reporting accurate stats.

Even though I have my own reservations regarding Meta (and how they've treated Pixelfed), putting my ego aside for the benefit of the fediverse is required when running an essential fedi service like FediDB.

    When an author uses a transformative agreement to publish without themselves paying an APC, is it appropriate to say "The authors received no financial support for the research, authorship, and/or publication of this article"?
    If not, what should they say in the funding/sponsorship section?

    @kdnyhan @academicchatter That's an interesting question. I manage the Transformative Agreements in Colombia, and some researchers have suggested to add "acknowledgment" to our consortium.

    Additionally, some publishers just wait for our approval to publish the paper. Therefore, the author might not have the chance to add such information
